Just thought i'd post these up, some have seen these before , but some may find them interesting ..
A standard "been around the block a few times" and welded up shell
After getting some sills on to put some the work can begin.
Tubs first, a small cut is made
and the finished tub
and an arch and 11x16 wheel at ride height (45mm under chassis rails , race legal)
Then another small cut to fit the rear suspension pick ups in
and the finished rear .. including the chassis raise, race 4 link brackets and covers, race body box x-member and the diff tunnel, the fuel tank stand can be seen in the boot too.
and the wheel at full squat
The floorpans are in the tops and bottoms of the A pillars are repaired and the bulkhead and closures are in ...
Been a bit tied up getting this racecar mk2 built while doing the mk1
Back to the Mk1
engine mounted
gearbox tunnel started along with the new floor x-member
and the Fostek Atlas being fitted with the 4link/watts brackets and disc brackets
Axle in
The seat/ cross members are done along with the inner seat mounts and prop tunnel ..
rear fire wall mounts next and then the cage .. multipoint weld in
Firewall upper and lower mounts are in
and the prime cage is in (prime= the basic 6 point + rear diagonal), the rest of the bars (15 separate bars inside) will be going in along with the front end, but i need to finish up the Mk2 racecar first.
The other 15 bars are mainly diagonals and front triangulation to the top mounts.
Some more
Some pics of the front spaceframe .. due to the cost of Mk1 front panels being around £2,500 from the screen to the front panel .. and thats just for the panels without fitting costs, we decided to do a spaceframe front end, also the cars modified at the rear so may as well do something up front too
The main hoops are 38mm CDS and the parts join back into the main cage are 42mm CDS, the top mounts are my own camber adjustable one that i normally let into standard inner wings.
Finished doing the top plate gussets on both sides and stuck a leg in there for the pics.
The we put some panels on
Neils got to bring his doors in and then i can get the front lined up and mount the panels and get the bubbles on the fronts.
Front arches fitted to the wings and the strut brace made and fitted ....
