I thought it was about time I posted a thread about my red RS2000 Custom NOO. At the back end of last year I finally bit the bullet and embarked on a complete strip down and rebuild.
After selling almost every NOS part I'd ever owned from my white pre Custom. The hunt was on to source as many parts as I could. Boy within 18 months had things changed. Prices had gone through the roof and I realised how difficult finding parts had become.
Lucky NOO had some very nice original items that did not need replacing.
I am at the stage as you will see where the fun starts.
Before I move on I need to mention two guys who without there massive help I wouldn't be at the stage I am now. Gary (fomoco) and John (RSJohn1)
I've know Gary for many years now and he is one hell of a top guy. In my opinion there are few people who know MK2 RS cars like him. The advice, help and knowledge he enthusiastically shares would take a thread on its own.
Many of you will know John who is restoring the Malcolm Wilson car. Johns owned a fair few RS's over the years including a couple of RS1800's. Again Johns knowledge and enthusiasm for Escorts is unbelievable. John in particular deserves special thanks. Not only has he made me welcome at his home in Fife but he is responsible for arranging the complete body refurbishment and repaint of NOO.
Not only did these guys persuade me to completely rebuild NOO they have helped me do it. There is plenty of work ahead but Im enjoying every minute.
Sorting out some of the parts tonight.
Shell gets primed.
