I remember seeing the green Mk1 4x4 at a few shows when first finished. As far as I can remember the guy got a Saphire cut the body off and then chopped about a foot from the centre of the floorpan, got a 1300E shell and cut all the floor and inner wings out and joined them together with the bulkhead top and wing mounting rails fabricated to fit.
So heres a challenge to produce a 4x4 Mk1 or Mk2 retaining all the original inner wings........

Nice 1 mate, will be some machine
My mate done somthing similar with a mk4 escort, basically cut out the floorpan of a 2wd Saph and welded under the mk4 - hey presto rwd mk4 cossie escort! lol
Sounds easy although I know there's alot of prep and a hell of alot of measuring!!!
God luck with the build mate, will be well worth it!

                          Hi All....

not posted for a bit but here are some more photos, dosnt look like we have done much but loads of time has gone into the rear, new boot floor etc, started on the sills so things are now starting to take shape. Put the engine and box in to see how much clearance to the heater bubble we have as i want the car to look as orignal as i can , thats ok, installed the rad and cooler things seem a bit tight so will have to have a think..I have got to sort some tarmac arches out so i can work out my wheel/brake size.

will post some more when i get
