RVF is now safely back in the lockup and ready for further work.

It has been a good exercise to get the engine fitted in for show since it has highlighted a few areas where clearance is a bit minimal:

The interior was stripped out today ready for Rob to continue with the raising and mounting of the gearbox.

thats a lot closer than i thought it would be.. looks like its gonna have to run socks..and we will have to stick a heat shield on the chassis as well.
      next stop engine dyno.
sigpic escorts are blood ,sweat ,tears and welding burns.

Was hoping to avoid socks but may have no choice. After Rob has raised the box a bit more, there may be enough room for another solution.
The exhaust is very close to the chassis but perfectly central in the space - there is a similar clearance to the steering column.
Suggest you pop down and have a look before we pull the engine out?

Can't believe it's over four months since RVF had a trip to Autosport. During this time, absolutely nothing has been done to the car - until last weekend when I persuaded Rob to continue with the gearbox tunnel mods.
As you can see from the pic, Rob has completely removed the tunnel from handbrake to bulkhead.

This was essential because we couldn't get the engine/gearbox assembly positioned correctly with the old tunnel in place. The gearbox was too low and the engine was leaning back touching the bulkhead.
Also modified at the weekend was the bulkhead hole for the steering column. As the Duratec conversion needs a lowered rack mounted crossmember (to clear the sump), this puts the steering column out of alignment. We had major problems getting the column installed for Autosport and when fitted, it sits at the bottm of the hole.

This has now been modified. Hope to get pics of the new tunnel up as soon as it is finished.

            White RS

            Looks impressive Andy.

I reckon you need seats with more support in the RS . I could always buy those old brown fishnets off you .

            Joe.

Engine is still not back from the dyno ! The car needs to be ready to go on Wednesday of NEXT week - that's wednesday the 12th of November.

As there is no engine, the car won't be a runner for the NEC classic show, but it will have a lot of shiney bits on it :

Apologies for the crap iPhone pictures

Add that lot together and get :

                                Cheers Rob.
