quick diff re-build

one of my jobs for the winter was to fit an lsd.
wanted to get it done before it got too cold in the garage, so some pics from yesterday...............

old 3.54 diff removed ....



diff stripped out........



all steel plated slipper to fit........(great deal off andy burton, thanks)



crown wheel and new bearings fitted........



all fitted back into housing..........



diff back in........



half-shafts and brakes back in.........



job done in an afternoon...........



had a little test drive. no noises at all, very quiet and smooth,and does good dohnuts too.

big thanks to paul ruddy who stripped me out a 3.9 diff from his axle at very short notice, and met me half way with it.

i'm a master diff builder now kev.
cheapest quote i got for building it up was £100+ vat+bearings+carriage.
then i would still of had to remove and refit to axle myself. nothing to it either, quite a straight forward job.

pre-load on the lsd is already set at the factory. back lash set with the adjusters on the side. works perfect.

spot on mark.... bit the bullet....... bet you its the best mod you ever do .....
when you said there is no noise, have you had a good run out say more that 10 mins as mine quiet till it warms up then it starts banging like a sh#t house door despite having it "rebuilt" by someone who knows what they are doing...... get the feeling a delivery to tranx might be in order

paul, only had a 10 minute drive and it didnt make a sound. got some thick "millers" lsd oil in it, as recomended by burtons. did a few figure of eights in a big car park and all was well.
