            • I love reading these rebuild threads as I am looking to start building a MKI tarmac rally car. Invaluable to learn how and what others are doing. I am well confused as to the other that things get done - I dont want to have to undo then redo anything. Might have to get the old spreadsheet out and start making out a schedule

Good work mate...keep it up....the sore knees will be worth it!

              • Thanks for that comment mate ...all the best with your mk1!
Your right tho when you say ''sore knees'' etc its been murder rolling about in the car for hours welding the cage lol, it started life as a standard safety devices 6point now iv adapted and changed it a tad to a 15point! lol
Heres a wee update for you all...she's nearly ready for the paint to go on outside!!!!

It was a nightmare spraying the cage with the large ''sip'' gun so I went to machine mart and got one of these!...well worth it! worked a treat...these pics were taken last week so you may still see hints of grey on the cage but now its all sorted and fully black.

                Me sprayin

                  • If you would stop doing your catalogue poses, the motor would have been finished by now!

                    Keep up the good work!

                            • Thanks for all the kind comments lads!
I got up early this mornin and popped out for a quick bit of the xmas shoppin but cudnt wait to get back home and get stuck in to the mk2
Got a good bit done today...
1st off I had to remove all of the masking paper etc, car looks this biz inside now..well chuffed!

Next on the list was to weld shut/fill the small hole/gap between front panel and wings..dont want any water etc coming out and running down front.

Welded in small plates and smoothed with some cataloy

Next on the list was to sort out the boot...I had fitted an alloy spoiler and decided im fitting a carbon one...thus I was left with loads holes in boot!

Sorted!...il finish off the inside when car is on side, getting stregthining done to crossmember fitting area.
In between waiting on the cataloy hardening I primed my 5link bars...will get em black before fitting

Also done a bit to this one...yes my mum and dad have got me workin on theres aswell!

Gave the chassis a good going over...

Will try keep you all updated!
                              Cheers
