Just recently joined and thought I would post a few pics of my Mexico as it
half way through major rebuild. I've had the car for 18years bought it from Cheltenham but it has been off the road for last 8 years or so. Started current project back in autumn of last year and reckon we are about half way. Car is just about ready to go to the body shop for spraying.
I'll post a few more pics when it's painted.

Ben
Well spotted, nice little 1.6 that "lured" me away from my mex... I was young at the time ! Had three 205Gti's whilst the Mex was "resting", good little cars, found memories.
Anyway what's the story with your RS2?
Cheers
Adrian
looking good mate if it turns out half as good as the 1995 pic it looks like you will have a good un

Nothing wrong with 205 GTIs - great cars, modern classics now. I've had 5 GTis in my time, they're great. A right blast to drive, and I don't think you can have much more fun in a FWD car :cherry:
Good to see others on here have had them!
My RS2 has been barn ridden since 1990 and it's going to have to stay there until I get round to sorting out my Mini Clubman and sell that on. There's some pieces about them in Practical Performance Car mag (PPC)
Hopefully I'll actually get to start on the Escort Resto this summer. I see it taking quite a few years to be perfect though!
i'll agree with you on pugs i drive 1.9 as my daily drive great little car

I used to have a 1.9gti in Miami Blue with power steering, full leather and ABS!!! Was a stunning car and would never had got rid of it but some idiot ran into the back of it and bent all the boot floor pan......Written off, bought back then sold for £1500
I've had a couple of 1.6 GTi's also...would have another like a shot!

Looks like you've got a good garage there! (envy, envy, envy!) Best of luck with the reassembly. There's a couple of idle hands in the corner of one pic that should at least be making coffee if not polishing parts!

Slowly getting there......a few recent pictures..doen't look like much change since last post but as things get taken out of the boxes more and more things need tidying up before they get refitted....I will post some more soon - things have moved on some more since these picture were taken.

Enquired about a Webasto for you today Gaz at Nottingham Sunroof Centre. He says you're looking at the best part of £7-750 for one. That's with an old one that needs re-covering and fitting etc :geek:

I will send you some pics of the roof. It is not noticeable. We used a donor roof, cut out a slightly oversized (say 1") panel and placed on top and then blending in with main roof. We thought it better this way rather than placing the panel on underside and filling the whole of the sun roof aperture.
I have just found a top man for doing the vinyl roof for me and am planning to go and visit him in next fortnight or so to arrange for the new bvr to be fitted.
