i know a guy who comes on here that did the same in his audi

How come on some cars the pumps are scrap Vinny? I mean it's just sucking fuel through isn't it? I would of thought it didn't matter if it was petrol or diesel.

the dealers will say its because the pumps are lubricated by the diesel (which it is) but the most people either havent started the car of it has cut out just down the road so it hasnt really had time to do any damage.
I have been told of dealers changing the pump and tank as well - maybe if its a fleet job and they know the hire companys will pay the bill

Sent a customers x5 diesel to bmw dealer last year for wrong fuel put and none start ,my customer run it till it stopped ,this cost him just short of 8 grand ,i saw the invoice and glad it wernt me paying it .since this ive found out you can claim only once on insurance for putting in wrong fuel .
anyone else heard this ????

Put 30 litres of petrol into my A6 2.7TDI
Thanks to RoddeRS poping out when i did mine.
Didn't turn the engine over so was very lucky, drained the tank and fuel line's of everything.. filled back up with diesel. didn't cause any problems apart from the pair of peckers on here giving me grief.......

dont feel too bad about it!

pick up quite alot of vehicles with wrong fuel,diesel into a petrol not really a problem its the other way round that can be.just to make peeps feel better a bike instructor i know put diesel in his DUCATI.hes now workin on the vulcan bomber not on refueling i hope

Going back many years when winter diesel didn't really exist it used to be recommended that diesel cars and vans should be filled up with an 80/20 mix of diesel/petrol to reduce waxing and stop the diesel 'freezing' in winter. On that basis a little bit of petrol in diesel car isn't going to cause much inm the way of problems - it is the full tank and drive away that will.....
