Charity Idea

Why don't we turn the Southern Convoy into a charity fund raiser for a charity, we could all do the trip from down south to up north dressed in fancy dress .
Could be on the lines of £10 all way in fancy dress, £5 half way in fancy dress and so on.

Does anyone do charity work on here or what charity is worthy of us making complete tits of ourselves

Some of you may or may not know but my daughter Molly has been from birth under the supervision of Birmingham Childrens Hospital

She is registered blind due to having Cataracts and Glaucoma (she now only has approx 40% normal vision in one eye), she also has a liver disorder called Galactosaemia that caused the eye problems at birth !

She is now 12 and lives life to the full and is doing great in a mainstream school but I would be proud if you could consider Birmingham Childrens Hospital as a possible receipient

Am sure a suitable meet/handover arranged after the tour would receive plenty of positive publicity for the hospital, you lot, your cars and the website via local media etc and the cars parked on their front car park would look impressive for piccies etc

Just a thought

Obviously others may have similar situations that we do not know about and will need consideration also for possible donations etc

Think we have found are charity

So will people dress up in fancy dress for the trip up then, don't forget RETRO FORD are coming on the convoy so would be great if they could put a few words in the April issue which would mean a few more pennys, who's our contact with retro ford?

Come on Lads you know you want to raise some dosh for the little children.

Those who voted yes do you want to send me a PM and we will then ask all the others to sponsor us.
Whats £10 to each person and with 150 cars on the tour we could raise £1500 for the hospital.

Dave do you have any details of who at the hospital we need to contact to make it offical so we can ask people at work to also sponsor us.

Had another thought on this

How about a Christmas Toy run to the hospital to finish the year off ?

Have the convoy to the lakes start it off

Then a little bit more here and there at various shows

And finish it off with loads of MKI and MKIIs near Xmas 2008 pulling up to hospital full of pressies ?

Just a thought

As for contact at hospital I will find out as they no doubt have a full time charity liaison officer type person

p.s. as I am personally involved I would rather not be the handler of any money but will love to get my daughter involved if we do go with the Birmingham Childrens

Good idea, as for the money thing thats fine. I don't mind holding onto any cash we raise and send the hospital a Chq after the Lakes Tour.
