Kev,
like the others have said I feel gutted for ya, but keep yr chin up its nothing that can't be fixed, have a chat with the guy see what he has to say, and if your still not happy with letting him do the work, walk away and find someone else who will, and you trust..
Good luck.
Mark

Kev, can't say anything the others haven't already said but I hope you get it sorted, try not to stress about it.
My advice to all is ...if you own a mk2 learn how to weld

Just seen this........
I told you so
Seriously though Kev looking at that picture the repair job is far worse than I have done and mines just an out and out Stage Car ,I,m not bothered what it looks like as long as it is strong. There is only one way to deal with a repair like that and to achieve the standard you want and have paid for and that is to take off the wings and struts and die grind out the inner strut pan and weld in a repair patch ,even doing this may blister the paint on your inner wings which would have to be repainted .
Gutted for you mate as I know just by reading the posts on this BB(as we have never met ) how much effort and expense you have put into your car MK2GRP4 will sort it by the sound of things .
Cheers

That just not on.
Hold all the payment but you will have to give him a chance to rectify his shoddy work. If he dosn't want to keep your money.
You would also have a case to charge him for remedial work but in reality this isn't going to happen as the hassle isn't worth the money.
Hope it sorts out for you. Most of us have been there. I had a car away for six months, all the work was done in the last week after I threw my teddy out, and it came back the wrong colour.
Tosser.

Jesus Kev
I feel for you Mate
I would suggest a strongly worded letter, putting down exactly what you asked him to do, and where he has differed from your instructions.
Can't see any legal problems, as he has clearly gone 'off plan' as it were, and hasn't carried out the repairs to the agreed standard.
