The first outing was Ford Fair last year, absolutely down to the wire getting her ready. It had its first short road test at ten pm the night before and she ran reasonably well, there's a lot of horses to unleash yet though!

I don't normally comment on the resto threads as there is so much great work being carried out by lots of people.

I have to say though I love this car as it is, the title of the thread says it all sympathetic resto.

Obviously arrest any corrosion issues and leave it as it is, it makes a nice change to see something looking a bit more used looking.

I like the way the engine is now cleaned up would be nice for all the other mechanical engine bay parts to match the engine and the external fittings rubbers etc to be spotless but the paint as it is.

Not that I'm knocking anyone who have spent lots of time and money creating a flawless car, this just stands out as it is.

Best of luck whatever you do with it, its your car and do what makes you happy and enjoy it....Life is too short.

Do what you feel is right..i was in a similar postion...its important to document and post the original condition as we both did before you crack on with the paint job.

In your shoes i would do the same. I take on board originality but if it looks rusty etc I would have to do it justice and restore it.

as above if it was mine i would rather get rid of any rust even if meant respraying the whole car

lovely... for what its worth, would have to be a bare metal restore if it was mine, but that will be expensive and ultimately prob not financially worth while, if you care about that of course

                            Yes exactly, me too!

Can I ask the question, "Why on earth do we think the majority of these cars end up being resprayed?"......that's very simple, it's because we don't like rust!

                              That was my dilemma
Now I'm using it it would have gone down hill quickly, fine parked up in a dry barn but not on the 'sunny' lakes tour lol

Deffo hate the rust with avengance, and lets be fair, most of these cars that are going thru resto or have been, are getting paint in areas Ford never did and most are IMO top quality jobs.

If you want it, get it, before someone else beats you to it.
