I like the colour but this was a tongue in cheek remark, the car would of been easier to ring had it been a more common colour... Or less well known perhaps..
After all it is well known even though it may not be for all the right reasons

i had the same problem, DVLA gave my number plate to someone else
the car had been with me for 2 years, i had the tax disc in the windscreen from 2007? the last event it did, i knew all the history apart from a couple of years,

called DVLA told them i still had the car and they had not contacted me to say someone was applying for it, they said i must have ignored it TOSSERS

the police inspected my car that weekend lots of one off fabricated bits on it. which these were clear on the internet pictures from its last event.
The police man said as far as he was concerned i had the correct car, the other person held the police off for 6 months before letting them inspect his car WTF?

they came back to me as the car was now in his name i had to prove i had the correct car, tax disc still exactly the same as it finished the last event, sign writing name on windows numbers etc etc

but they wanted me to remove my strut top to prove it was correct i reused saying if i had the incorrect car he must have owned it for at ease 12or so years as i had the history and tax discs, how did he not notice the car had been taxed and was rallying by someone else??

i put on the internet the reg a lad came back and said you must have had the damaged shell, (yes it had a previous roof) but been rallied numerous times since then, it had a Mk1 BDA log book on it, the other person had built a new car and decided to reapply for my log book

so as we stand i have put another log book on my cr, i know i have the correct shell., as soon as i see my reg on another car im removing mine and going to have him for fraud. the police have asked me again to take my strut top off so they can prosicute him (without doing this they dont have evidence) i have kept all the bits that were fabricated one offs, windows stickers number plates tax disc etc etc,

Is it possible to give your email address to the DVLA as a contact on your V5, I always give my email address when declaring a SORN. It would be another way of them contacting you especially if you were away on holiday for a few weeks. You never know who is lurking around car forum sites and social media, someone could wait to you put up a post that you are at the airport and going away for a few weeks, then apply for your log book. This is another reason to post your holiday photos when you have returned home.

i do the same when sorning a car but i think the e-mail might be automated and not sent by human (if they even are in swansea these days ) the few dealings i've had with them have resulted in mess ups from their end, mostly lack of communication but with no admission to it. always save proof on any dealings you are unfortunate to have with them because as Alan has said, they love to blame anyone but themselves.
what i need is a high horse like the others have !

                      • i have had numerous escorts, the best one though, we were at castle comb numerous years ago, as we were leaving in the mini bus one of the lads said your car is over there, i looked it was the first ever escort i owned, as we laughed. it was on a very well known Historic car, now to be honest i cant ever remember sending the log book off as scraped, but i know the car was buried in a field after using it for banger racing.
the best part it was buried in one of the lads field who was on the bus.
