  • Another is it worth it?

I have been out of escort ownership for about 15 years and in need of scratching the escort itch again. Prices have risen a fair bit in that time lol.. and apologise for the 'whats it worth thread'. I have seen plenty of ones for sale but never sure what they actually sold for.

Currently looking at a rs2000 shell for sale, bare shell with glass, nosecone and boot. It is rough but seems ok in the right places. Needs new floor rear arches front wings and maybe a front panel... then some serious bodywork and a respray.

My question is: is it really worth £2500?

    Thanks in advance.

    Ok in the right places??

Sounds like the shell is a major rust bucket!

Is it a genuine RS Shell, are doors included, does it come with its correct V5 and what other parts are included?
    Cheers

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder...

A genuine RS shell might just and just be worth that; bearing in mind that you can get good SA shells etc for similar money.

It depends what you want to do, if you want a modified car, then a shell where you start from scratch is just the job (and not feel guilty about chopping mint factory steel), if it's going back to standard then it could be a long expensive journey.

An Escort is a great laugh but an expensive hobby...

        Hi,

I did forget to say it is a mk2.

The floor needs patches on the front and rear. It could be patched. The roof is sound just has a small dent and the rear quarters look good too. Spare wheel well and petrol tank well look good too.

It needs work for sure but doesn't have holes in the floor you could 'flintstone' along in..

It is supposed to be a genuine RS shell and has the V5.

I think it needs too much to put it back to a complete RS2000 so it will likely be a rally type build.

Nothing with it (not even a switch) just the shell, nosecone, glass, bonnet and boot.

        Cheers

        Dano

End of the day a shell is a shell, its the V5 you are paying for,, any shell can be restored to RS spec,,

How many RSs are running around have had a replacement shell during its life be it a service shell or Dare I say an 1100 pop
          sigpic

          Back with a MK1

I take your point, I know of 4 locally that have been re-shelled over the years.

              Money pit.

By the time you've bought all the clips, fasteners, wiring, lights, seats, dash , suspension etc etc you'd be better buying a complete car .....like a Golf GTi or a Astra GTE, far far better

This is the same price and although bent is a Genuine car with NO rot, depends on who you know bodyshop wise, but could well be worth a look

                        Cheers Glyn

                          Hi,

Thanks for the link, I have seen it but would prefer to weld a floor than change a roof. I don't have access to a jig either to make sure it's straight. Shame it was clearly a good shell.

                          Regards

                          Dan
