Thats all a guide is, a guide. If someone wants something so bad they will find a way to get it. Like others have said, those who couldn't afford a specific model 30 years ago now find themselves with some spending money burning a hole in their pockets, and getting that RS etc that they only ever dreamed of having all those years ago is becoming a reality. As for prices I think they will continue to rise, and can not see prices dropping in the foreseeable future for some time. Must admit though some of these basket case prices are getting silly, as are part done projects that people fancy having a go at and finding out its not as easy to do as they thought.

If you want it, get it, before someone else beats you to it.

Seems like the prices for all 'classics' have shot up in recent years. If you track prices of top end classics (Ferraris, e-types etc) they started their rise from around 2008. Right about the same time as interest rates took a dive.

My theory is that when investors started putting money into cars as assets they drove up the price of the top end cars. In turn, it brings up the price of everything else that can be considered a classic (even saw a Meastro being offered as a classic the other day!).

If our interest rate goes back to 'normal' I think top end classic prices may take a tumble, but Escorts will, at worst, just see a 'cooling off' in price. Escorts are different to top end classics - their prices seem to be dictated by true enthusiasts.

                Just my opinion.

I thought the country was in recession Alan but clearly the RS Tax is here to stay and certain folk are clambering to pay it!

I wondered if the 'new mk2 shells' would halt things but not so far...

As far as I can make out, its not the owner clubs and enthusiasts that are driving prices but the wanky 'specialist reseller' agent that are buying up cars taking a few photoshoped pics and a polished website then targetting the new age yuppy muppets in the name of investment buys.
