        further developements.................

set to work on getting the lump out yesterday, not easy on your own, however having done it a few dozen times it all came flooding back,

Also the roll cage was delivered on saturday morning, a full safety devices turret linked jobbie with multipoint fixings, note the immaculate cut lawn that was done just for the photographs (lol)

Exhaust was a complete pig to get off the car, every thing was as tight as hell, however, i won in the end.......

and all done with just a few basic tools........

AAhh, escorts, dont you jus love em

            good fun though.

most things were easy to undo (petrol tank has been the worse to date) although as for the wiring, it will take a while to sort that lot out (see technical queries)

                      Graham,
Just dont lose heart, i did this transfomation and it took me in excess of 700hrs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but believe me its all worth it when you finally drive it (apart from the 4500rpm @ 58mph on the main roads in 5th lol)

If you need any photos help etc.. give me a call as i have probably had that problem at some point
                      Cheers

                        getting there

                        Hi martyn,
thanks for the encouragement and support, much appreciated.

I have built (and rallied) many escorts over the years however i can at last afford to spend some serious money on the right kit rather than run it as fairly standard. I intend that this car will be right and a high standard of build and finish achieved

There are some photos i would appreciate, can you either email them, post them (here ?) or can i meet up to view them.

main ones i am after (for guidance only)

                        Rear turret installation

                        Four link installation

                        Panhard Rod installation

Although there are some sites with the pics, i cannot download or print them (can anyone help ? - Kel, Dave ? )

Additionally, i would love some photographs of your interior as it looks the mutts nuts and is the type of finish i would like.

i would contact you, however do not know your number, any chance you could pm me ?

                        cheeRS and thanks again,

                        Graham

                            onwards and upwards.....

finally got to strip the entire engine bay on the weekend, at last i can now see whats needed and where.
the servo was a complete pig to get out, having corroded itself into the inner wing, however, all parts now out for inspection and strip / clean

Also my new state of the art chemical washing machine for all the nuts, bolts, screws, washers. simply place in clothes peg basket, dip into de greaser (old plastic sandwich box), swirl around and prod with stiff brush, hang to drip dry, and steam clean thoroughly.
                            Technology the welsh way.

All the "white" holes in the engine bay are now redundant and will be filled with the mig, not too much rust on the old girl, and the top mounts are A1 condition, the worst affected area around the fusebox / heater panel.

                                oooh my poor wallet................

bought some more bits for the car today, however, despite spending a (very) tidy sum of cash most of it will be unseen, however you just gotta have it.
The fuel tank and stand are of a high spec, note freshly cut lawn!

these bits should help it corner a little better - the rack is 2.2 (yes) turns lock to lock, and the alloy hubs should help with the unsprung weight.

new bilstein inserts, 190 llb standard height springs and new RBTM should settle it all nicely

all nicely propelled by a straight cut 5 speed box (bought s/h after trying it in the Donor car

and finally most of the wiring has now been stripped out, loads of surplus wires everywhere, some not connected to anything, others do do with the many alarm systems fitted

so far progress going well, however could do with a few pics of some twin pump layouts for the fuel, any one help ?
