  • So how did you get your username..

Some are obviously car or name related but some are a little more intriguing.
    Whats your story?

    Heres mine.

Many years ago, about 15 to be precise, I raced a Velocette MOV with the VMCC.
I had done lots of tuning and I was finding it difficult to locate a place to do a bit of impromptu testing.

So I decided I would register it for the road so did the dating letter thing and all the other bits of red tape and went to my local VRO and the bike was awarded KAS750.

Back in those days if you were issued an age related number when the V5 arrived it would say none transferrable.
When my V5 arrived it didn't state this so I promptly returned to the VRO and put it on a retention and waited for a new V5 to arrive.

Now back then cherished numbers were pretty good news and I reckoned that KAS could be an abbreviation for Karen?
So I placed an ad in autotrader listing this number for £1500.
Well what do you know on the Friday after it was listed a guy rings up asking to buy the number as he was desperate for a special gift for his wife Karen.

In the meantime my replacement number for KAS750 arrived...and guess what it was??? KAS751!!!!
and what was even better was that the DVLA had not learned a lesson and the V5 still didn't say not transferrable.
So off I went back to my VRO to put KAS751 on retention and they were not happy!

There was not a lot they could do but did say that the new number would definitely not be transferrable!!!
In the meantime I had another call from my autotrader ad and had to say that KAS750 was sold but I did have KAS751 available for the same price...and it sold!

So thats why my handle is KAS750 to remember the one time when I had a "good do" out of the system.

Well back in the 70's I heard or read somewhere that the new Mk2 RS2000 was being marketed as the Excutive Express.....and not just for the rally boys!
