As above is it worth searching out a rs model or 16 sport when i/ you intend to either arch the car or add an engine that is non standard ?? Only asking as surely if its altered it looses it originality and therefore the v word // value. IE if an rs2000 is no longer wearing its nose cone is it an rs ? Had a look on here to see if its been asked but not found the answer ( i do not want to start an arguement just a discussion ) ,,,, will ry to keep up with the answers but on my way oop north to mull for the rally and intend to buy something on my return, just to add i understand re additional strenthening plates and suspension differences. Suppose the question is , is a 13 gl shell with all the bits ie zetec or s2000 engined and caged and arched car worth that much less than say a mexico with the above work done ? thanks for reading , jim

I would say that a standard RS 2000, 1600 Sport etc would be worth more that one with modern modifactions, period modifactions are a matter of taste for the buyer, but shouldn't effect values.

This site used to have 20-30 threads running at any one time, some of them were banter, some were serious subjects and some were general questions.

A lot of the older members no longer come on the site. So if the site is quiet then maybe it is the "new" era of Ford Escort owners who need to maybe have the motivation to make the site busy again?

Without some of the banter threads started by some of us there would be no activity at all some days

But it appears that if anybody comments that is not considered to be knowledgeable enough they get shouted down, surely corrected / informed would be better as we only learn from others . But if those others sit in Ivory towers looking down on us new comers with contempt then what's the point of it all. You were t born with your knowledge someone passed it on to you . Surely that's what sites like these are about passing knowledge and passion on to new generations to keep these old cars going . If a select few want to keep that knowledge to themselves then the scene will die off.

I don't see people being shot down for asking questions when they go about it in the correct manner. There are a lot of very knowledgeable people on this forum who know these cars inside out.

But also this forum has spent the last 10+ years being about more than the cars, it's is a release from our everyday jobs and somewhere that we can take the pee out if our friends (many who we met through this site) and have a bit of a laugh. New members can't expect to be part of this straight away (just like real life) and need to integrate over time and become part of the community.

You don't accept new friends in your life without first evaluating them and deciding if they are someone who you can trust, so why should this and any other forum be different?

I don't answer any questions on any forums for a few reasons ..

Firstly, there's a search function at the top, use it, the question has probably already been asked and answered a dozen times....especially if it refers to re covering seats

Secondly, if you give an answer and the original poster doesn't accept it, he/she challenges it, if you already know why ****ing ask !!

Thirdly, if you give an answer some other ****ing half wit thinks they know better and gives a different answer.

And while I'm on a roll, for ****s sake when you "quote" someone's post that has a dozen pictures on delete the img files, pages and pages of the same pictures boils my ****, is it ****ing laziness or ****ing stupidness ??
