  • Am back with project to tinker with

Have just had a 76 1.6 2 door ghia delivered from Holland, spotted it on a classic car site and was to good to pass on, its a bit rough looking but a sound original base to work on.
Dont think many 2 door ghias made?

Going to think what to do, its not going to keep the chrome trims etc for sure.

Probably do a Mex look with round lights, have won a front spoiler and it has the rear spoiler fitted.

Will be stripping out interior first to make sure it is sound, has sport look covers on seats, which to be fair arnt bad, passenger and rear look very good but will be looking for recaros or similar for front i think.

Early days but looking forward to it.

    Peter.

I agree would be nice to see a 2dr Ghia, if you de-chrome it and swap for round headlights loses it Ghianess....Bib and boot spoiler are good additions in my mind though finishes off the car nicely !!!

But of course its your car and you can do what you want with it

early 2door ghia has to be scarce nice metallic paint and early chrome badging would stand out at shows. Wood trim would be like carry over from mark 1 custom packs

Not a lover of that colour for a Ghia, prefer the metallic colours but agree that you very rarely see a 2 door Ghia and it would be a rare beast
                Cheers

Yes Mark this is the car.

If anyone fancies the towbar (recall someone wanted one last year for a trailer)
                      let me know.

Agree Martin probably not the best colour for a Ghia but is a proper early colour (Carnival Red) but it may go Venitian Red.

Doors need lower repairing but close better than any mk2 have known!

Think will sort out shell first but have dash from when restored the RS so will probably go RHD, need rack, dash top , servo tower etc, sure Escort Tec can help!!
Not going to rush it, bought as a steady away project, as long as done for when its tax free will be fine, its reg'd Jan 76, dont know if will be in 2 years time or if can prove was made in 75 will be 1 year?

If the chassis no. is GCATRx then it is a '75 build year.
If it's GCATSB, for example, it'll be a Jan '76 build.
If you want to out the LHD servo tower etc, give us a shout.

I saw that one online, it looked fairly good, it was online for a while though.

Its SB so was made and registered within 20days.

Was up for a while, think being in Holland helped me, took a while to find someone to transport it back at reasonable cost as i dont have trailer etc.

Seller went on holiday part way so advert went off, thought had sold but he kept in touch and we got there in the end.

Havent gone over with fine tooth comb yet but overall it looks a good buy!
