Seems like the guilty are trying to cover themselves to me. I can't understand why anyone bothers with the old school RSOC forum as all the info and knowledge is on here. When i joined the RSOC, i was directed straight onto here. Great site Mr Custom and great set of people.
What more could you ask for.
Don't think that you will be missing anything Leon, its the RSOC who are loosing the members with the knowledge and commitment,
Have a great Christmas and New year

Must admit that I will not miss the RSOC, it's just hard to let go after 25 years. All likeminded people are here you are right.
      Happy XMas.

Leon, I felt the same when I let my membership lapse in 2008 after 20 years membership, a big part of my life.

However I still have the same friends in the Escort scene, still see all the show photos, still get all the banter and still hear a lot of the 'rumours' , just do it all on here or by good old fashioned talking to mates.

Believe me there is another way to get your RS fix

Here's to a great 2016 and get yourself to The Lakes if you want to relive the glory days of the RSOC

        All the best

Pees me off when club members think they can spend our membership money as they please. I think that the RS owners Club is a waste of money. You don't get your monies worth Now on the other hand you should see what you get every month from the Porsche owners club. I will NOT be Joining the RSOC again
          ITS A WASTE

I've just let my Porsche club membership lapse in November, the mag is every month and very big and glossy but also favours certain areas and companies.

The club insurance scheme is top notch in my opinion and was my main reason for renewing last year, had I kept my 944 I would have renewed again purely for that.

There is however still very definitely an hierarchy within the club, not only at National level, black tie dinners at National Weekend

As I said in one of my previous posts, all clubs have problems of some sort, maybe it's how they deal with them that sorts them apart.

              Hi Paul,

the Lakes Tour is on my to-do list, hope I can be there next year.
Also, the Snowdonia Tour is on that list as well.
Both look like a fun weekend out.

On a serious note, received 2 pm's from the RSOC forum of Gizmo in the last couple of days. Odd, because I am banned/removed from there.
Seems like it was an attempt to determine my IP address so that they could hack into my account.
As I send my open message to not only the RSOC committee but also the registrars, the local groups, and alot more people it looks like there was attempt to find out to what emailaddresses I send the open letter.

Have send a couple of emails and pm's through here to Gizmo but no response. You figure out what's going on.

Leon ..... been reading the latest instalments (and others) with a sense of sadness at your plight ....... Many people I know have given up on the rsoc over the years for various reasons, some with a tinge of sadness, some with relief that they don't need to be dealing with a "corrupt, egotistical" shambles anymore ..... and I guess that's where your choice will ultimately have to lay ..........
I had small dealings many years ago with a couple of shows and wasn't overly impressed with the hierarchy's way of doing things ...... the fact that there has been for many years discontent and rumblings, that continually procrastinate, shows, either a "willingness" to brush matters under the carpet, or ineptitude to deal with such problems .....
We all know it's easy to take credit for the nice things associated with a club, but seems to be even easier to deal with the awkward matters by ignoring, blanking or banning .......
the choice lays with you Leon, the heartstrings may pull hard for the old times, but I guess the future is what you make it fella ......
                Good luck in your decision
                Grtz ... Grum

                  Hi Graeme,

to be honest I have thought about not renewing for some years now, but eventually did because of "the good old days" because some of the old skool-ers are still a member.
With my membership revoked it's easier to close the RSOC-chapter.
Sending the open-letter to the committee is my way of saying goodbye I guess.

                  Take care, Leon.

I've not been on here for a while and having just read through this thread and the other one one that Paul Linfoot started off about the RSOC having a go at the Porsche Club through me in a friendly sort of way I think

I cannot believe that the RSOC has become such a CLOSED SHOP and that Members who have supported the Club for such a long time are being ignored when they ask questions that they are entitled to do and if they persist are then banned

To lose these people will be detrimental to the RSOC in the long run as not only are they losing long term loyal Members, but they will find that other long term Members will make similar decisions not to renew their Membership.

The Committee will probably say that they don't need or want these 'troublemakers' and that there are plenty of New Members joining every month who have just bought the new MK3 Focus or have taken ownership of one of the older Focus models. This in my opinion is shortsighted as the younger generation in general have no Brand Loyalty and this years 'Must Have Model' will soon be replaced by a Subaru, VW, Audi, BMW or whatever model is brought out next year . The 'loyal' Members many who have been in the Club for 10-20+ years aren't here for the Rally News magazine, the Club Shop or the the Forum. They are here because they grew up with the RSOC as teenagers and have a loyalty to the Club, RS Brand and all the friends they have made over the years at Shows and on this and other Forums.

I was proud to be a Member of the RSOC and have met many good friends through being a Member and visiting the RS Regional Shows in the 80's, 90's and 00's. I have served as a Registrar for the club which I enjoyed but also it allowed me to see inside and the politics are there with some Committee Members determined to 'take control' and overrun the Club surrounding themselves with likeminded people.

IT IS A CAR CLUB, NOT A MULTI MILLION POUND FTSE COMPANY. WE SHOULD ALL BE HERE FOR THE FUN OF IT NOT TO MAKE MONEY AND NOT TO ALIENATE OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE ALSO IN IT FOR THE FUN.

Long post, sorry but I can see Grum tapping away on the marble with the words "RSOC - RIP, Once Great but now just a shadow of its Former Glory'
