I thought I would bump this thread up the listings a bit as GJ is makeing more progress with his than I am at the moment.Building ****ing Brick wales for the last 4 weekends ,good job I'm not a brickie by trade or a labourer talk about ache .
I went to see the car last night as it is down the painters/preparation garage where they are doing the wireing for me,I hope to get it back this month all painted with a full new wireing loom and all the electrics fitted and working so all I have to do is fill up the fluids fit the carbs ,seats and windows then take it for the MOT.
Obviously the planned RAC 2007 is not going to happen but I can promise that it will be finished for the 2008 event.LOL .I'll be calling back at the body shop before the weekend so will get some pics of the WIP before it gets sprayed and wired up.
On a technical side what do you do with the clutch cables on yours, with 4 branch exhausts,as mine is very close, touching the manifold, previously it was just wrapped in heat shield but must get very hot and likely melt ?

Coincidently I had just reminded Will and Justin about that on my old car (see PHF thread on "Cars reunited") as they are more familiar with more modern set ups. Answer is you use the longer MK3/4 Cortina clutch cable. You don't just wrap it in a single sleeve of heat shielding (whatever that is now that asbestos is banned), you wrap it to about 4 times the original thickness where it is close to the manifold and you wire on a strip of aluminium so that if it did touch it wouldn't be directly on the wrapping. Then you loosely secure it to the inner wing to pull it as far as possible away from the manifold without kinking it too much. You can also (VERY) slightly tweak the tube in the bulkhead to one side (stick a strong bar into it) to route the cable slightly that way as it leaves the bulkhead tube. VERY slightly or you will cause the inner cable to rub into and wear the end fixing at the pedal end.
I never broke a cable in all my years of Pintos. Melted a few when learning the hard way...
I routinely have to help hill climbers/sprinters who turn up with their super new big bore manifolds and ask why the clutch has suddenly gone stiff...

              Thanks KL
Your proposals have been taken on board and will be implemented when she is a runner and before it has any serious abuse.

Just a "bump" to say she's comeing home this afternoon, not a runner yet but all sprayed and wired.Just the nice final jobs to do like fit the polycarb to the doors, fit seats ,radiator ,grill, belts, fill fluids and my rebuilt 45's (which look the cleanest thing on the car).
Will post some pics if I have time tonoight.
GJ could do with some more pics of yours (So I have some more details to copy )
Anyone off here out on the RAC next weekend, looks like we are doing the Kall Kwick on Saturday if we get the clutch sorted on the Warrior and will most probably end up giving Banner a hand if required.
