      thread resurrection

done a few more bits on SLW over the last couple of years, but didn't update the thread or take any pics

fitted proper pin type wiper blades and arms
      fitted sunvisors
wired up and fitted plugs and transponder for terratrip
plumbed in and fitted lotus elan washer bottle and pump
took the oil pan off (twice ) to straighten after it fell off the jack in other thread !
new heater matrix and modern resistor conversion
then just drove and enjoyed it, done 2 welsh tours and 3 lakes tours in it

last welsh tour the one of the front struts went and blew oil all over the brakes so got it up in the air last year and fitted 2 new bilstein inserts and while it was in bits repainted the front suspension black (it was blue)

that was that till about 2 months ago I agreed to sell it even test drove it's replacement and all was going well till Claire sat me down and talked some sense to me, so It's staying with that in mind I decided to sort all the little things left I intended to do when I bought it but was having to much fun driving it

      oil pan off during "issues"

modern resistor conversion from RS for the heater if anyone wish's to give it a go it's a
TE Connectivity HSA25 Series Aluminium Housed Solder Lug Wire Wound Panel Mount Resistor, 2.7Ω ±5% 25W

I soldered up and fitted flyleads (original in middle)

      fitted

gratuitous shot after I fitted some FMC mudflaps before the welsh tour last year when the front strut disgraced it self lol

      blue rear suspension

off with manky exhaust in background

rear cylinders were leaking when inspected so stripped it all down

painted in 2k and new shiny things

built up, new studs, hardware, shoes, cylinders etc

          back together

painted up the prepfab exhaust and fitted £22 !!!! worth of black 6mm nuts (the devils in the detail )

          Cheers Glyn

bought a tatty brown rs centre console off the escort tec boys at the lakes last year someone in the past had fitted an LED right in the middle of it, one of the things I really like about SLW is it's modified so I don't have to search out minty bits I can do my take on them, so I fitted a Sierrra clock where the LED was and painted it black, I also bought a tatty RS thick rimmed 3 spoke and painted and fitted it (this I wasn't happy with and is currently with Mr Spence having the leather sorted)

            fitted some new front pads

then took it for an MOT which it passed last week so this last weekend I have stripped all the interior out

I have bought all new covers from Aldridge and there off to the trimmers tomorrow, I have removed runners and started refurb and I also removed C pillar trims for repaint and rear parcel shelf for repair and paint

noticed when I was in the car over the weekend how much it smelt of fuel so also replaced all the fuel lines, tank to pump, pump to reg, reg to carbs, the removed lines when inspected were very scary !!

if you have never checked them do it tomorrow ! these wasn't very old
            Cheers Glyn

Is this definitely the only factory black Mk2 Mexico? I was lead to believe years ago that there were three of them made.

"They were never officially available in black.
Mine was reshelled at about a year old with a rs service shell that was supplied from factory painted black.
Original colour was signal green but its been black for longer so kept it black.
Would love to find the first few owners to find out the whole story."
