Yes, when I saw this car on the Mull Targa Rally it looked a nice car. Martin and Rod finished first in class (Historics) and 22nd overall.

After owning several Escorts in the late 70's early 80's I wanted to move on to something of a similar sporting nature and I had a shortlist of 2 cars; HSR Chevette or an Avon Lotus Sunbeam. As there were only ever 50 HSR's made they were not easy to come by so I ended up getting the Sunbeam. It was a serious fun car and miles quicker than any escort back then; I owned it for 9 years. Still had an escort alongside it in the garage tho!

I could probably have bought 2 or 3 Escort Mk1's in the same condition for the same price. It would have made a really cool project, but spares availability is just not on the same level as our Escorts. I gave up trying and sold it at the end of 2017.
