      • Bit more of an update, I've done the satin black behind the front grille..

Also the satin black rear panel, I've been studying photos to see how it should look, think its turned out ok, early sports don't have the hockey stick trims...

        thats it for now,

        cheers, Stu.

        • The satin black looks fine Stu. I just wondered if it should have ran to the other side of the headlights up to the wings, although it won't make any difference anyway!

Not sure, I did that on my '68 mk1 but some photos I've seen of cars being built in the factory have them done like this, like you say it doesn't really matter once the grille is on

            cheers, Stu.

The black painted backend was standard on the Sport so is absolutey correct! As Stu mentioned a trim surround was fitted to later models which gave it a more finished look, but this looks right and is correct for this model!

I think you are right Stu if the RS cars are anything to go by! I've just looked at pics of the cars in the AVO factory and they are the same as yours. Maybe the fact that the headlights are fitted on the cars in the AVO pics makes it a little decieving at a glance, as they cover the line and so you don't notice so much that the black does not actually continue to the end!

I don't mind either really, but as its going back to original it will have to have the black panel as all Sports did.

                    cheers, Stu.

Yeah suppose it does look a bit different as the headlamps & bowls aren't fitted yet, it will all be hidden once the grille is on!

                      cheers, Stu.

I am aware of that. My point is I would prefer it body colour.

Having said that I prefer it black on a MKII Mexico.

Right, I did not realise that you were! All these details help define the model, if you paint the rear of a Mexico satin black, then it looks like an RS2000 and is then not instantly recogniseable!
