All I'll say about my attempt at humour is You don't have to read it.. Alternatively block my posts, in your settings, problem solved. It wasn't a joke at the car in question just a bit of Alan ribbing... Most blokes on here know me well enough to know My humour and take it with a pinch of salt. Maybe it's time the jokes and banter stopped altogether so not to offend anyone at all...

a solid rwd escort shell is a very long way off being a pile of scrap metal. Hope the owner gets properly compensated and afford to rebuild the car stronger and faster than ever.

In an ideal world there should be a proceeds of crime order to seize and dispose of assets to the value of the theft - but of course there is that burden of proof bit! Can you prove that the dismantler had guilty knowledge? - of course we all know they had - but prove it, that's the difficult bit, especially when you've a smart lawyer with the ubiquitous prepared statements and no comment interviews. As for 'them' dobbing in their scroaty mates - dream on.
                The whole thing is sickening.

dude, I have a lot of feeling for this guy, I'd be gutted if it was mine

No - I know exactly how the crack was intended - Louie ****taker and Al the V5 policeman but its difficult to laugh at something close to home.....both my garages got turned over in October, luckily they didn't take the car but they had away plenty of other stuff easily disposed of and all in demand within 'the scene'! The worrying thing is that they know what they left so how paranoid do you think that makes me huh?

I personally think the sadest thing is that there are people within the Escort scene that will buy parts without any regard as to where they come from.

Unfortunately it's the rarity, high cost, desparation that leads some owners into buying these parts. If only enough quality parts were remanufactured then it might dent the stolen market of it's old used bits! Until then, these owners will just bury their heads in the sand. If everyone stops buying these parts then the stolen market will dry up for the criminals!

Yes you're right, they don't know and are not likely to ask either, they just want the part!
