Frankly i dont think the money thing is such a factor. Most of you lot are up norf where believe it or not most of the shows are anyway. To give you an idea of the distances i have to travel, donnington is 173 miles from me in portsmouth, kendal is 300. Thats distance to moan about.

I just think people need a change.

The money factor is not an issue if you are still drawing the same money or more than you did in say 2007 , but for most like myself I am a lot worse off now than in 2007 , prob 5-6k a year in wages , no pay rise since 2006 , shopping ,fuel , and general cost of living makes me alot worse off now than when we was all having the crack 5-6 years ago

How expensive are these car shows getting for goodness sake??

Or is this just an opportunity for people to feel sorry for their selves ??

can be anywhere between £30-100 a show , money people dont have to waste now like they did 5-6 years ago
I take it you are no worse off now than you was 6 years ago??

Its not about feeling sorry for myself its about prioritising things

The fact is the majority of folk who go to the shows, are skint, laid off, redundant, regular working class people who now may be alienated by the fact that Escorts have been over inflated into Porsche+ territory and can't afford the car in the first place or the £100+ (family)for a Sunday afternoon out at a show

When the economy bites, these shows/clubs who are'nt what they used to be are the first to be cut

I bet the majority off here with the "top cars" are'nt feeling the pinch ???

Escorts are'nt a working class mans hobby any more.
Just look at some of the now normal prices, which a few years back would have been laughed at

£100 was a extreme cost but if youve got a couple of hundred miles to travel then price of show , food camping etc some shows are not too far off costing £100 , fair enough most prob cost £50-£60 per show

alot of money to be doing this a few times a month like we used to

completely agree with you on this chesney, plus as i see it problems are these as well.

                  1) costs for the day a day out having fun is not as cheap as it once was.
                  2) the total lack of local shows has slowly gone down part i belive, in organisers having to health and saftey everything (insurance for the events) plus the lack of people turning up brings gate numbers down so costs go up again. if you dont get the interest locally you will never get attendance nationally.

and as bish says every blooming show seems to be in the North of England! 3hrs in a four speeder is not my idea of fun!!!!!!!!!!

there is enough people who come on here perhaps this site should organise meets at local events???????

Lucky where I live as we have shows & meets on every week during April to October. (One where I can even push my car to ) I still haven't driven mine yet but I have good reason.
I want to bring the car out next year as that is what I bought it for.
I much prefer the smaller local shows now as they offer something different for me. I am done with the big shows like ford fair & classic ford as I hate the venues. I will always support ND though.
Money will be a huge factor next year for me.

                          Dear All Ford Nuts

I have recently returned to Ford RS ownership after a 20 year breading gap (Children), and have been well impressed with all the efforts of others keeping this scene alive.

If you haven't tried the Lakes tour then do. My wife and I along with my two brothers thoroughly enjoyed the full weekend taking us all back to the 80;s and making us feel young again. The well organised event coupled with friendly attendees and visitors was excellent.

My point is, I have been spoiled for choice this year of where to go and what to do on the Ford scene, (Weather was a bit crappy admittedly) but it was good to see all the cars I grew up with being used in varying degrees.

I also appreciate that these cars are precious to people in diffent ways, but the people we met this year were helpfull and welcoming to newbies like us and I thankyou.

If our generation dont bother with these cars, then I'm dam sure the next wont.

                          See you ALL soon,

                          Phill

                          Best Regards
                          Phill

No one will ever see it as he never comes out to play with the rest of us.

I havent bothered with shows for a few years now as they are not worth the time and effort travelling to them, I feel that the scene has been split into the RS gang and the non RS gang,
The stick that i got when i bought a mk2 RS and cut the front off to flatfront it really peed my off with the scene, The RS gang have a lot of members who are to snooty when it comes to the non RS models, escorts are escorts regardless of spec, but so many RS owners dont seem to realise this, and like to slate other owners cars as they think that they are the Elite. This has then created ther divide between models and spec.
I know owners with some really nice cars who wont join clubs as they are sick of comments about "that part isnt right and it should have this on it"

This is no way a pop at the RS Owners Club, it is my own opinion.

Don't fall off your bike.... It Hurts
