  • Mk 2 RS2000

I have had this one for a while now, maybe 10 years. Has a bit of a sentimental story. I will start at the begining, i worked in a scrap yard in slough with my dad. A black mk2 RS2000 drove in for scrap. Was a bit clean with some ticket left on it, so we swapped the front wheel which was flat or bald for one from a capri. Put it up on the front for sale, as you do!!
The boys from round the corner from where i lived called into the scrap yard over the road for parts for their escorts one weekend. My dad sent me out to inform them of the escort we had for sale, but i was young, about 10 or so and was too shy so i never told them!! Any way i carried on loving this escort and sat in it playing as a 10 year old rally driver, promising myself one day i will have one of these.
When i returned the following weekend, it had gone!!! Anyway several years passed and i passed my test and bort a mk1. Out on my travels i spotted a mk2 RS behind a house, few enquiries later it was not for sale. Kept it in mind went back a few times then one day it dissapeared. Never to be seen again.
Broke my leg banger racing and got involved with doing my mk1 up, just finished it when out of the blue one of the boys from round the corner stopped by. Asked me if i wanted another escort, yeah why not i said. So me and my dad went to collect the escort with some money i had inherrited. Sure enough it was the one i spotted behind the house a few years previous, but it was also the one i sat in when i was 10!! Still had its capri wheel and i found a hand written receipt in a bag of papers in the boot. Dads name and dads hand writing.
    Got it in the end!!
