Hello all, Looking to return to MK2 ownership and they seem to become more expensive daily, I am just looking for a 2 door project and have been offered an old tatty rolling shell with no I.D. shell has been stored for a long time, If I was to build a car out of this how would I legally register it and is it expensive, hopefully you will view this as a legit question. thanks Richard

When you say - no ID - have the inner wings been replaced or substantially replaced? If so and you do not know the registration then you may have to go through the re-registration process - long and fairly involved which depending on which way the wind is blowing may result in a date related plate or a Q plate - no guarantees either way!

Thanks for your reply, The problem is when you are trying to break into MK2 Escort ownership one can get tempted when you have a limited budget and you have to resort to ebay where apart from the obvious scams one has to be careful as some cars are plainly not what they appear to be, I was looking to find a MK2 2 door do not mind work as it will be a retirement project, ok with bodywork and welding, maybe I have arrived at the party to late. thanks Richard
