  • Mk2 mexico project begins....

Well i thought i had better start a new thread here...

    To recap..
Its a 1978 mexico. Its been in dry storage for 21 years until bought it just before christmas.I did a little recommision and put it through an mot.I have done about 80 miles in it mostly to prove the gearbox and axle which are perfect.Although in the pics it looks pretty decent, in the flesh it did need a getting at so the restoration has begun.
This is how it looked where it had been stored for the last 21 years.

The wing rails had some rust on them so i decided to remove the wings to have a look. After some severe prodding i found a little hole on either side where the inner sill meets the bulkhead. So i removed the interior to do a proper repair..and one thing lead to another.

Just imagine only a week or so ago you were thinking about just touching up a few areas.

While the shell is away i will concentrate on renovating the engine, gearbox and ancillaries.

I have taken about 150 reference photos already... including pics of paint dabs!
