  • Jaffa's Return

Jeez am I sooooo over the moon that the last bit of sh1te work is over with and the reassembly can start in little stages.

I was a bit disappointed that the underside didn't turn out shinier but gloss paint over underseal just isn't going to be high gloss unless a really thick coat goes on. Then you get problems with the paint chipping off, of course, as it's no longer flexible. I guess life is a compromise!

I cheated a bit on the longitudinal members as some previous owner with an IQ = shoe size had jacked up the car on just about every part of the frame thus denting the members to hell. Condition was however great, so I confess to doing a bit of polyester filling. Took loads of detail photos of the good metal in case the MOT man starts prodding with a screwdriver and finds plastic-padding!

    All gunge off:

    Etch primer:

    Two-pack primer filler:

Teroson Underseal (masked off bits where I didn't want underseal):

    2-pack Signal Orange '77:

Now I need some spring bushes - any ideas? I'm not really into purple silicone etc. - just good old HD black rubber would do. Can I get the lower shock bushes anywhere?

Only drips on this thread, Brian, are prison warders from Ireland! LOL!

They're indentations where the original spot welds are!
