  • Interesting information with regard to E Bay Log Books

Taken from information provided by the DVLA

The registration document is not intended to have any monetary value. It is
an extract of the information that is held by the Secretary of State for a
vehicle on the vehicle register. The Road Vehicles (Registration and
Licensing) Regulations 2002 specify that the registration document should be
returned when details of the vehicle and/or keeper change. This allows the
register to be updated with the revised information and a new document
    issued.
When the DVLA receives specific information concerning a registration mark
or V5C, a marker and a copy of the eBay page is placed on the record. This
will retain the intelligence and block any future transactions until an
    investigation has taken place.
The Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 list offences such as using an
incorrectly registered vehicle, forgery and fraud and providing misleading
    declarations and information.

Why would that be ,, If it has a dodgy V5 then some thing is not right

Also why would anyone buy a car with no reg plates or vin plates and then need to buy a log book to make it some thing its not and put it on the road

If you want to buy a car with no ID simply apply to the DVLA for the documents and check if its genuine

This issue has a lot of opinions but just ask your self 2 questions

1 , Who would buy a car with no ID ( possibly stolen ) and then try to disguise it with the ID from another car ?

2 , Who will try and pass off a standard car with a RS log book to be able cash in on the premium price

Every one knows that ringing cars and selling cars with ID that does not belong to it is against the law but it seems some people just dont care

It's a interesting point you make Alan and as you say not everyone's intentions are as honourable as your own...
Could I suggest you readvertise your car as a Haynes of Maidstone rep- doesn't say it in the add that I can see

Its not just my intention Rob its the intention of most people but as always its spoilt buy a minority.

As for my add not saying Rep that a minor point , nowhere does it claim to be a genuine RS1800 either ,,

You get people saying the sale of these V5s keeps old escorts on the road, Well if you own an old escort you should also own the old log book to go with it.

You carnt tar every car with the same brush ...you really do have to know for sure the cars and V5 history.

I know mine, I did all the checks ...known history owners etc etc follow up calls and the like. Think a few guys on here raced and rallied my cars back in the 70 80s

But it only takes an ill advised comment by someone that thinks they know different and then it's all under mined

Isn't that one of the benifits of joining groups and clubs, you get to know where the honest cars are and who has them ?
