Stick my two pener’th worth in please!

I went down the fiesta mk1 route for a daily driver, still available (not X-ray models), £2/3k gets a road worthy one 1.1 better than th 950 basic.

I have owned two Dolly Sprints and my advice would be, don’t bother. My two wore the tow rope out constantly, crap to work on, hard to even jack up. You will spend your life savivings at Rimmer Bros’ on parts alone. Good to look at and that’s it. The 1850 is a far better engine.

Vauxhall viva hb would be my choice £2/3k for retro slow fun.

Hillman Avenger or Hunter not too pricey (word not out yet)!

          Datsun 1980’s models interesting.

          Only my opinion.

          Best regards,

          Phill

Dolly's are great providing the engine has NEVER overheated - world of pain thereafter - great car let down by a poor engine then Trump welded two together to make the Stag engine so same problems x2 - genius! The Dolly's were quite advanced for the time 4V head, overdrive g/box, IRS and disks all round.......wonder what they'd go like with a Zetec or Duratec up front?

Hillman Avenger - learnt to drive in one, bit like the Marina but bit better looking IMO

The amount of people who said I was mad to buy a mg maestro turbo then a few said they had one and they were cossie beaters
Funny thing is they only ever made 505 of em and I'd never seen one b4 so it seems like half of Barnsley owned one of the 505 and I missed every one

Escorts are over priced tat. Still the best thing I ever did was to sell mine. The 911 is far better fun & much less of a worry. Definitely the right decision.
Would I go back to an Escort??? No. "Unless" it was a genuine dealer fit X Pack with all the Group 1 goodies. I may sniff then.
