Four time Irish Hillclimb champion, Simon McKinley, from Meath, has been killed after an accident during the Clare Motor Club’s Hillclimb at Scalp Hill, near Carron. The hillclimb fraternaty will have been left with a huge void with the passing of Simon Mckinley today.
His engineering/race car building skills were something to look up to.
His ability to get 110% out of a mk2 escort was just something else, often far quicker than most of the single seater hillclimbers.
He succombEd to injuries when driving his warrior powered Lant single seater this afternoon.
Our condolences go to his family & friends at this time.
A true gent, RIP Simon.
