  • Guilty as charged

I have not driven my Mk1 Mexico for the whole of 2017 and 2018. Who else is guilty of this neglect and cruelty to Escorts (that’s the car variety)!
Replies below and lame reasons for. Confessions hear please :

My rs2000 was last driven in 2016. Reason too many cars and not enough time.

          It’s a no from me

Sorry to disappoint but “Jackie” my Mk1 Mexico will never be up for sale, just simply not had the time to enjoy her. 2019 hopefully will be a different story. I don’t have a place of work I can use my car and commute by bike. See you crazy people at some events next year

              I'm glad I'm not alone!

My RS Mexico has only been out twice this year, MoT and Knebworth House Car Show!

Must get her out more next year! Seem to remember saying that last year!!!

For me, I get a lot of pleasure just in having the ownership of one.
When I was younger I couldn't afford one.

The guys my age (17/18/19) who did, had rich parents who happily bought the cars for them.
I knew they never actually had a true understanding of the value of what they had.
Fast forward to the late 90's and my mates were quite happy to off load their worthless Mk2's to me as they went after the GTi's

Now, some 20+ yrs later, I still have those cars, bought and paid for by my own endeavors.

Everytime I look at them, they just put a smile on my face.
I don't need to drive them, but I do now and again.

For me the main pleasure is in ownership.

I'm just as bad with my RS too (even though its not an Escort ), unbelievably I think its only been out 3 times this year.

Haven't driven my rally car since I bought it 2 years ago. Had some issues setting up the carbs and getting it on a rolling road at the same time as a period unwell, becoming self employed again and racing a Caterham occasionally.

The car is now finally log booked after a period of MSA incompetence and I have booked Curborough for a bit of a shakedown in March. I am then hoping to enter my first rally!
