Wasting your time Alan, I even wrote to the Federation of British Historic Vehicles and this is the response I got.

            John

Thank you for that. I know we have told DVLA on more than one occasion that this goes on at Beaulieu Autojumble and they have seemed reluctant to take action. I’ll pass on your email to our contact at Swansea and see what happens.

            Regards

alan, just because you got it the wrong way round when you turned a rs2000 into a 1300xl

you should really realise that the trade of selling v5's isnt actually illegal.
even some top quality stuff have a past

This was going on in my local chemist.

I went in and complained to the manager but it was most embarrassing.

It turns out V05 is a shampoo...

Alan I understand that this may frustrate you as it would me and many other people but unfortunately that's life, many cars have had there id's changed over the years, call it ringing if you like but if ringing is illegal what does that make a re-shell using the previous shells ID?? It's a question with to many answers and the DVLA couldn't give a shit about old cars, they are only interested in modern stuff.
It seems to come with the nature of these cars but to me it makes it all the more interesting when someone finds a real genuine rs mex etc.....
                              That's my opinion said so, is anyone interested in a 78 mk2 rs2000 v5 and tags £700........
                              Only kidding
