  • 4 Door MK2 Escort Resto

Well im back again for project no 2!!!
After approx 5 years restoring my Dads mk2 Rs2000 its time to start my own .

I bought the car from Wrexham about 4 years ago stunning looking car mk2 4door ghia .15inch wheels running a 2.0 pinto and a mild cam and basically had rs2000 running gear 5 speed box tramp bars etc....
I used this car for approx 12mnts great fun to drive never let me down
In the end i had to park her up due to work commitments and any spare time i had i was working with Dad on his Resto.

Unsure what spec the car will be built to yet but pos Road Rally/Track car??

So a complete strip down was in order to see what panels / welding where needed .

    before strip down

    Will keep pics coming .

liking what I see, love a good more door......as long as it stays a 4 door, not a big fan of these you see with the back doors welded up

recently had to let my more door go to fund other projects but t'was a noble steed that still got loads of looks and thumbs up when I was out in it.

Had the bottom half of shell and under side sand blasted .
where do i start now????? More holes than a tea bag!!!!!

To be honest this car had been badly restored by previous owner at some point . Plates welded over rusty rotten areas then had loads of seam seeler and thick wax oil to cover it up .... After removing one sill i found it full of builders foam

        Panels that need replacing
        Drip rails x2
        wings x2
        front floor pan both sides
        front pannel
        splash pan x2
        sills x2
inner and outer rear arch x2
inner and outer rear corner both sides
also need to do a small amount of work around heater bowl..

This is going to take some puting right

        Shot blasting

Nice job, have you welded up the fusebox hole too ?

If you want it, get it, before someone else beats you to it.

Looking at the first pic I was thinging that a nice ghia didn't look like
it need all that welding, but coming along nice now. Are you going to have it as it was in the first pic when its finish? (White with vinyle roof)
or do you have something different in mined.
