  • Not seen this before, from 4 door to 2 door

Out on the hunt today with my Malaysian colleagues in Malaysia looking for potential escort goodies (specifically opening front ¼ windows) and found an escort that started life as a 4 door and it’s in the process to a 2 door conversion, the rear panels are hand made and in my opinion are pretty good. For some reason I cannot attach pics through my work connection so will post pics tonight from the hotel. My colleague also tells me that I could get the door panels remade pretty cheaply so am also looking at this option for my Roth replica.

Luckily they are not common as most Malaysians prefer the jap cars but garage owners know what they have and won't part with them and this is why I'm struggling to get the opening front 1/4's, I found a perfect set today and am hoping to get them but if the owner knows how rare they are he'll be asking a fortune, you may also remember that I posted with a find of 3 MK2 2 doors and 1 mk1 4 door and at the time the owner would not part with them, I drove past the garage today and they have not moved. it's a crying shame as the humidity is slowly killing them.

They have other cars in the workshop that they have restored and yup they are clever, not sure if they would make panels for export as each panel is made to fit but their work is as good as european after market replacements (and probably 1/2 the price).

Yup love it or hate it, it's full build can be found on retro rides.

But I've just got my hands on a very rusty 1300 auto 4 door, so that's the next on the list for madification
