L.H.D. mk2 Escort

Back in November I went to germany to buy a cheap mk2.

I drove it for about 12 miles, turned around and went home, I hate Left handed cars, lol

So I was thinking of changing it to the proper side !

Is this going to be to much work ?

I've just bought a R.H.D. Dash Board (not the Dash Top)
spent most of the day just cutting and grinding it out neatly, as it was still in the half a mk2 I bought for £25. only problem is the guy has cut the inner wings off it before and has cut through the Pedal box plate, and has no scuttle panel either.

If I change it over I will need different wiper arms/linkage (maybe motor), scuttle panel. and of course brackets for the wiper motor.

With all this taken into account, do you think it's going to be worth it. :mad:

Steering column brackets, RHD sump, x member, wiring loom, scuttle grille, windscreen wiper linkage, battery tray, steering rack, headlights, parcel shelf, bonnet cable release bracket, throttle cable, clutch cable, steering column knuckle.

As to whether it's worth it, weel why don't you tell us? Dpends on shell condition and price, I'd say.

its not as bad as you would think, particularly if you know of a donor car to get some bits off, have a decent Mig welder and some patience. The dash is probably the worst bit to do and it would help if you have access to another mk 2 for measurement purposes,

go for it.


ps i have a brand new steering column bracket if required for RHD

This car / shell is going to be a rally car (clubman) so throttle cable, bonnet cable and the like dosen't really matter to much.
It's just the brackets for the wiper motor and linkages that worry me ! If I put something in the wrong place the wipers may go off the screen!! lol :))

I've bought a R.H.D Dash board and the panel where the wipers come through below the wind-screen, I've bought a Grp 4 (no towers) world cup cross memeber

The shell is really good! only needs strut tops and a rear arch.
