Hi,

I've always bought Canon (S10, D30 SLR, G3, IxusV)......and takes lots of photos from Motorsport, Live Bands & the family pics, both semi-professionally but mostly for fun.

Look at the Canon G6 or the Canon Pro1, or any similar range camera. For the odd photo I don't think you'll need nor want the hassle of an SLR. I will admit though, a digital SLR doesn't have give you access to take quality pics. See one of mine below.....great fun!

Actually, you could go even cheaper than the G6/Pro1, you'd be surprise how good today's cameras are......it's just the cheaper they are then the harder it can be to control and get the great shot you want.

Note: See www.dpreview.com , apart from the great reviews they compare with other cameras of similar breed to give you more of an idea.

Ian.

think this says it all, one thing I will say is get one with a good Optical Zoom none of that digital zoom crap

I would buy one of these, depending on Budget

Canon EOS 350D / Digital Rebel XT £519 is the cheapest I found

i bought a sony cybershot 5.1 megapixels, good camera, not to cheap & not expensive, it takes good shots but the zoom is not excellent, i use my dads pentax dinosaur machine with removeable lenses......its much better for shots......but if you like your photos spend the cash

I just got a new phone with a 2 megapixel camera.

Sony Ericsson K750i. It has autofocus, digital zoom, a media player and fm radio with rds (perfect for old cars without i.c.e.) etc. etc.

Oh by the way it makes and takes telephone calls too :agimp:

Howdy,

I use and recomend this unit.

Had a few cameras.
Still have 2.

This is the best of the lot.

35-420mm zoom.

fixed.No lenses to change

No dust to get in lense aperature

Manual adjust so can go from 35 to 420 in as fast as u can twist barrel, no motor drive noise on videos, no batteries to run down.

8 meg per pic max, can be smaller.

Manually adjustable exposure and focus, if needed

A number of mags have done a run down on this one and "best buyed" it.

I got this over a SLR unit.

Love it !
