I can hardly wait to flick those pages.

Dave, did you get a chance to call the guy as per my PM on the RSOC BB? He started talking about wanting £800 for the pair of 1/4 panels and £400 for the door which I thought was a bit steep but as I've never bought this type of item and you are Mr. Helpful Bodyshop Man, I thought you might be best qualified.

I spoke to him before I had your pm as I have a good friend after a new nosecone.

Your mate Phill is not going to get much joy posting an ad for such rare items and then when you ring he has no idea on prices except that he wants £950 for a nosecone as a splitter for an RS500 is £900.00

Am sorry but I wasted a 20 min mobile call to him (at my cost) yet it is him who is selling !!!

He is after top dollar which is fine if goods are as described.

Arron can you revise ad to show prices and a landline number for Phill

Better still get him to register online and put his own ad on the BB as people will not be happy with someone who is selling items and when you call their mobile all all they do is want to talk about parts prices except the actual prices for the items they are offering.

You say he works for GMS Spares - they know parts prices as much if not better than anyone else !!!!!

I phoned him too and he wanted £500 for the wings and £695 for the inners and £200 for the servo

Digging the arm in I would say hope he keeps them for a very long time

Have a look at www.gmscaprispares.co.uk
There is a bloke called Phil who is Nevilles brother working there.

The same guy I wonder, doing a bit of marking up (silly) and moonlighting?

Neville would not be happy I'm sure, why doesn't someone call him and check the mobile no. and fill in the blanks........

No its NOT the Phill who is Nevilles brother.

It is reported by the MKII Parts Police that the guy goes into GMS but does not work there.

Good grief I wish I'd never bothered ! I was only trying to do someone a favour.

Sorry Dave, I thought he might have had the courtesy to call you back and save you the phone bill. If you're at Donnington (and I make it along) I'll buy you a burger and a cup of tea to make up for it.

Sorry for anyone else who has wasted time with this one.

As far as the identity of the mysterious Phil is concerned, I'm sure he does work for GMS as he answered the phone and sorted me out with a new ATE master cylinder. He took my credit card details so I bloody well hope he works for them !

I think I'll delete the posts as it seems to have caused so much agro.

What is it with people when you try and do them a favour and they end up buggering you about.

I did get my ATE master cylinder this morning though and I'm really chuffed with it.

I've just got my copy of CF, there's no Mex-it this month, but 2quick4u (Mark"The Headmaster"Cogan) has a 5 page pinto fitting article in the tech section !

(I've spoken to him this afternoon and he says autographs are free with every purchase at Donington on the 30th ;) )

Is the Gimp going to put his "Parts Police" outfit on for the next show then Ricky ?? :gimp :gimp

Just for the uninitiated/thick/not with it (i.e. me) can someone explain the exact role & purpose of the 'Parts Police' and what exactly the 'oppo' consists of.

How much ???????

Jeesus, I bought one for £100 a couple of years ago, and that was my limit (sadly it was damaged so I got my money back - I've regretted that move  )
I think you are right about the "Stuck in the Clouds" but perhaps "Spoiler stuck up the arse" would be more appropriate

I put Arron onto GMS in the first place so I'm not too happy about this either.

I must say though the new/exchange brake bits and pieces I bought off them around this time last year were excellent, and I thought prices were ok too. ATE master cylinder £80 (brand new) etc. Service was also good.

It's up to any trader I guess to ask for whatever price he/she sees fit, and we (the consumers) have quite rightly in this case said "no chance".

Ultimately prices will have to fall, otherwise he will be left with lovely new stock, overpriced and unsold, and will be having paxo and no turkey on 25th Dec.

p.s. I seem to remember Dave (The Custom) bought a new back spoiler on German Ebay. I'm prepared to bet my pocket money he didn't pay next or near £325

If I had realised he was going to ask stupid prices for the parts he had, I would never have posted the thread Dermot.

GMS have increased their prices since you bought. They charged me £95 for my ATE Master cylinder + £10 P&P, however it does have the reservoir on it - did yours ?

everything is overpriced in this country, its rip-off britain.

i went to the shop to get some sweets for my 3 yr old son, £1.69 for a packet of jelly babies.

wtf?

You can thank Tony Blair for that mate, he's got his fingers into everything.

I cleared out my old paperwork the other day and found some pay slips from back in 1997 just before Blair came into power. I now earn £14k more per annum than I did then so that's £1166 per month more gross but my net salary has only increased by about £400. By my rekoning that's means I am paying about £300 a month more in tax than I would have been if John Major had kept taxes where they were then. It's all the stealth items like company car tax, mortgage income relief and N.I. that people don't realise have been altered over the last 6 years.

Rant over.

Yep, resevoir included alright.

I just rechecked my folder of receipts also.

It was actually £85 including VAT, but I got away with the VAT. Foreign address within EU with Irish VAT reg. number = sweet!!!
