Would be great day out Dermot, make it after march though as I only start drivin then.
It's usually on in Bruntingthorpe in June.
It's my MkII annual highlight.
A convoy would be fantastic James.

I couldn't see any problem with the convoy Dermot, would be a great idea I think. Keep me updated on the goinings on so.
Just watch the thread grow.....
I've done this trip for the last 4 or 5 years, it's physically tough and tiring, pretty hard on the car, and your wallet, but it's so much craic it's well worth it.
The driving it top class, and to let your car loose on the track is a riot.
There's a fair bit of drinking (hic), one night in a tent, and probably 2 overnight boat crossings. :jumpy: Leave Friday at 4pm, arrive Liverpool 6am the next day. Back into Dublin for 6am Monday.

Sounds to me like a bit of a plan is growing, I think I will struggle for fuel consumption with the new engine and also a four speed box, Is Dublin the easyist way to get their?????
ops sorry for the hi jacking

I have a 4 speed also James and It's fine.
Motorway cruising 70 - 75 is not bad for fuel 25- 30 mpg. It's tough on th ears though after a couple of hours.
Dublin is probably the best Port, as the overnight sailings work well, and Liverpool - Brunters is not a long hike really.
I'd look at Cork - Swansea however.
p.s. Thanks Dave - keep us informed.

If it's not an RS2000 then it will be my 4x4 Cosworth- just ask Dermot about our little off road trip in it in 2004 LOL
I remember that ok.
Grass cutting expedition.
Car was very stable, unlike driver and passenger.
I'd look at Cork - Swansea however.
that would b a long drive from swansea 2 bruntes

Your right Tim, I looked at the rac route planner and
if I went through rosslare- fishguard its 200 miles away
and Dublin- liver pool is only just over 100 , buts 250 miles to
Dublin and about 150 to rosslare, Its six of one half dozen of the other
The advantages of Dublin Liverpool overnight are imho:
1/. Relatively short journey down M62, M6, A50, and M1 to Brunters.
2/. 2 nights kip in your own bunk bed, showers etc.
3/. Food and beer on board.
4/. Travelling through the night - asleep.
5/. Dublin traffic - you miss pretty much all of it, due to arrives up there at 8p.m. on Friday, and arriving back in again at 6a.m. Monday.
Sometimes the ferry prices are ok too.

Cork - Dublin is only 145 miles I thought. Are you in West West West Cork James?

Nope the city, never took into account the new roads so it is probally only that Dermot, sorry my mistake. I live in the country and I don't even know how far away the capital is, how bad am I
Quite bad. Dublin Port is 2.5 hours from here and about 3 hours from there, all going well.

Thats very reasonable Dermot for time wise, the rac route planner said it was about 3 hours from liverpool to brunters. The worst part of the journey is traveling on the Irish roads :pukeleft: . Any idea what we are looking for the ferry price wise?????, though I was that bad all right :drunken:
Lat time took 2.5 hours including a stop at the last motorways services to fill the tank.
If the boat gets you offloaded at 6am then arriving by 8.30 am is reasonable. 70 or 75 mph nearly almost all the way. No appreciable traffic either.
2 ferry Co's, P&O Dublin Port - Liverpool, and Merchant Ferries Dublin Port - Birkenhead (just across the Mersey). I have a contact in the latter and will hopefully get a good deal.
Just off the phone to Norse Merchant ferries.
They'll do Dublin - Birkenhead, any weekend in June, night crossings both ways, for €280, including car, 2 x pax, all meals, and a twin berth room with shower/wc.
I need to book quickly however.
Any idea which date?

The other one P&O is no better and costs a fortune.
