Hello there, I got my X Pack last night and I have a few questions if anyone could help:
1. Whilst driving home I was doing what the escort said was 55mph, but in reality was 70mph (as my wife was following me), any ideas?
2. The temp gauge was in the red, but the engine was not overheating, for about an hour and then all of a sudden went to about half way and remained there for the rest of the journey, any ideas?
3. Are the dash lights always dim?
4. My car has the X Pack Gp 1 engine, carbs and filter, how do I go about checking the oil level, as the air box appears to be in the way ? Do I have to remove the air box each time, and if so, what is the easiest way?
Thanks in advance
Lee

The car has the 7" RS 4 spoke alloys, i will go and see what tyre sizes they are and get back later.
The dash lights can hardly be bloody senn!
Hopefully someone can help with the other two questions.
Thanks a lot,
lee
Check the RSOCBB.
I'd never drive with temp. gauge "in the red" Doesn't that mean it's overheating?
Could be the temp sensor on r/h side of block at front.
Dash lights are also crap on mine mate so must be how they are!!

i also have the grp1 set up and my dipstick is the same but ive been told you can get an extended one although they are rare.if you pull the wire off the sender unit for the temp gauge (its just above the distriburator)and stick a lenghth of wire in it and the other end to earth you should see the gauge go right up means gauge fine get a sender from ford i think.also take the dash out(2 screws pointing upwards)and youll see what bulbs are out again try ford for these

the bulbs are available from Ford at 83p each and they will only sell them in the blister pack of 10 I know as I bought some and they made not a toss of difference in lighting up thr dash

Thanks for all the help, Davie, how do you go about checking your oil level then?

by taking the air filter off its not hard just a pain
1 take the nut and washer off the top
2 undo the clips remove top and filter
3 undo 8 nuts on the ram pipes and remove
4 remove bottom of filter
only takes 10 mins once you get the hang of it
A common modification to get brighter dash lights is to remove the dash and the bulbs and push out the small clear blue covers giving you a brighter light on your dash rather than the blue tints.
Try it and see, if your not happy then just replace them again !
