View Full Version : vinyl roofs RS2000's
are vinyl roofs on mk2 rs2000's a big no no ?
are you seen as the scum of the 2000 community if your car has one ?
how much work is involved in getting it off and taking the roof back to original state?
i think sunroofs are more of a no no mate,, not sure about vinyls.

i think vinyl roofs look great on mk2 rs's. mine had one on originaly and will be putting a new one back after the new paint job
One big reason for selling my last car was the glass sunroof, the guy who bought it did not mind it though.
Present car has a vinyl that has been on since day 1. With the white cars (as mine is) I think they look good, not sure about other colours though.
To get the vinyl off, my mate does excellent bodywork and would probably charge you £300-£400 for such a job (don't hold me to that though).
well ive purchased the car anyway even tho it has vinyl and a glass roof (just couldnt let this one go)
one question about the vinyl ..where it comes down the front pillars do they come right to the bottom of the pillars or stop at the top ?

That's odd, on Slim's RS2000 (sister car to that white one going by reg LAR454V) the vinyl came right down the A pillars and was like that originally, Clint's RS2000 was like it as well I think.
Seems it may have been both styles???
I reckon vinyl roof is ok, factory/webasto is fine, but I don't like the glass aftermarket s/r fitted using a tin opener.
The vinyl on my car (LAR464V) pictured above was fitted by the Ford dealer that had it as a demonstrator. I've also owned another white car that had a full Webasto and that had Vinyl all the way down to the bootom of the screen.
I don't think there is any set rule for it.
My mate also does roof swaps if you are interested, he quoted me about £700-£800 to do the job on my last car.

My vinyl roof is the same as LAR 464V stops at the top.
