Read options and then answer.
I voted for option 1 Dave but I think (and have always done) that you should be re-imbursed for your expenses in running and hosting this BBS

The point I am trying to make is mainly this :-
People are joining the RS MKII Escort Club assuming their subscription is going to get them certain entitlements.
Namely a Bi-monthly Magazine (reduced to Quarterly now !)
Magazine is the responsibility of Phil Tear.
No membership fees are used for the Website or BB (non-required !)
BUT I am fed up of PAID-UP members complaining (quite rightly) to me via PM's or phone calls that they have sent monies and receiving NOTHING.
Hence I have "moved" the BB to ensure people have to contact Phil direct to complain as he has the money NOT me !
the X.R owners club have had a similar problem
the last owner ran of with all the benefits , money and insurance deals
he failed to deliver the goods , no mags or merchandise
it is now under new ownership ( the club )
and i believe the XRbb (not club involved )
does not recieve any funding from the coffers ... ??
if it wernt for the BB i probably wouldnt be a member
........ MAD or what
I voted for number 3 although i have paid up my subsciption to Phil at Stamford hALL.
More memebrs will join if the club is free.
Maybe there could be benefits for paid up members??? Encouraging people to join?
Dave, you know my position on the Dark side ;)
its upto you what you do with YOUR BBS.
Pay a Sub to use the Main BBS... Very PF
Members only clubs access ... AVO
Free for all ... RSOC, Turbosport rs2000-16v etc......
Unless the club wants to takes full ownership and running & development costs of the website.
Personally, I would never pay directly for BBS use. I'm here because the people I know and respect there views reside here. (shame you dont use the RSOC site ;) )

Tricky one this………
Websites cost money to operate, either on a personal level or for a company.
Whilst I have only been here a short time, Dave’s site is certainly (IMO) the best for the MK II RS, such that I only briefly look at the others out there, all an individual needs is all on this site. Long may it continue!!
If in the future the privilege of being a member of the site involves a subscription to cover the costs, then I’d cough up (I’m a paid up member of the RSOC & MK II RS club).
I have seen many great sites go down the pan over the years as their owners were unable to keep up with the spiralling costs.
Some go the route of sponsorship, not always a positive move for the site, however if it keeps a site alive……..
Perhaps if a subscription is needed, then there could be some ‘benefits’ i.e full access to the site for paid up members, and restricted access to non paying members; perhaps access to technical plans, How to’s, parts section etc.
Ok ‘colours to the wall’ I voted for option 1

unless its costing you money i think u should leave it be..... there is not much rif raf at all on this site compared to others & yes this is the best site for the mk2 escorts. turbosport is an excellent site with alot of very friendly people & deals with mainly old skool which is cool & ive never had a problem with anyone on it, nor have i on this site. its all the usual suspects on the site that make it good to keep coming back

BTW :- I voted 3 as well - lol
I have spoken to Phil today on my reasons for "unlinking" this BB from the MKII website.
Phil will hopefully be sorting a MKII Club BB asap !
This BB will remain as is - MKII Rallye Sport Escorts BB
No 3 for me! im tight :bounce: LOL

I voted 2.
On another BB that I use, anyone can use the BB and post messages etc. BUT.....
if you pay a subscription (not much - about £5 a year) then you get a siggie pic possibility, your status as a paid up member displayed, a forum just for paid ups etc.
Non paid up users have one major disadvantage - they cannot see the pics that are posted!
If it carries on subscription-free that is the best, of course. I just wanted to indicate that I WOULD be prepared to pay if it's necessary to keep our community going.
Dave i thought it was your BB ?
I voted Number 3 because of the above really, I didn't think the MK2 club had anything to do with this site.
Dave, there is that other option that could reduce the costs for you.

Kel
Hosting costs are not an issue
It is hosting reliabillity !
Will need to chat as may go this route
well I'm sure you know where you can find us at the weekend ;)
Dave being in the same boat as u i know where your coming from :)
As mentioned above the XROC BB is ran (and funded) independly from the club as there isn't enough in the coffers to pay for it. It was my choice to setup and brand the BB XROC and thats fine by me as i think the current XROC owners are well on there way to getting the club back on its feet
However if i were in your situation i would be asking the exact same questions :(
I voted for no 3 too, i'm not a member of the RS mk11 club (would be if my car was on the road) but i do think Bulletin Boards (all internet BB's regardless of content) should be free to members, as is the spirit of the Internet!
IMO its upto the owners to fund the BB through whatever means :) although if members do feel they want to make donations then fine, but this should be under no obligation or give them any special treatment.
I don't agree with the passionford setup and did say as much when they came up with the idea, hence i'm not and will never be a "gold member" LOL i would love to see the accounts for that website ;)

i favour number 2, i paid my membership when i first joined and apart from a coulpe of a4 photo copied notes once in a blue moon i have not got anything out of being a "member".... and no funny replies about what type of member..... lol
as for the BB its the best, have found it really usfull and met loads of great people thro it...... long live the BB, would be happy to subscribe.
i liked dasandrew idea for perks.
I voted for number 3 , i am a member of the mk2 club , but as already said i think all bbs should be free

I would happily pay to use the bb,its first class, some good crack on here, but if its free, all the better, regarding mk2 club i have the same gripes as others on here, joined some months ago and have received ----------.did get my valuation after 4 months, 30 emails, lost count no of phone calls, voted2
I voted number 1, its great that they're free but being a fully paid up member doesn't automatically stop people bitching on BB's. In my opinion this is not the place for that, so anything that keeps genuine enthusiasts up to date has to be a good thing, even if I have to join the club (RSOC member 15 yrs)
