Hello to everyone, i am Cosmas from Athens Greece, i ve recently discovered your really excellent forum and i ve become a member at once-i wish we had a same one in Greece. I own an escort 1.3L red colour simple without any modifications. During this summer a friend of mine found this escort that you can see below. As my escy has many problems with rust i ve decided to buy it and continue this unfinished project. One of my dreams is to create a historic rally car, i would trully appreciate if you express an opinion about this Mk2 as you are experts and of course more experienced. I wish i could visit you in GB and meet you. I ll give you more images soon!

Thanks mates, i really thank you. I ll keep you posted, this is a period of saving money for the winter to come when i ll buy the SD cage and my Minilites. Which dimension do you suggest? Keep in mind i ll fit a 2.0 rs2000 pinto, the estimated horsepower is at 130hp.
Nice colour!!
Welcome to the board... keep up the good work :bom:

I see there are lots of MkII's still being used in Athens but usually in very poor condition. On one of the little streets which connect Messogion to Kifissias just a bit west of Katahaki there is a little tuning garage and I've often seen an RS2000 in there.
Athens has loads of very interesting looking car tuning shops which I unfortunately only ever see through a taxi window! In Ilissia there's an old Ford Dealer and you can still see the faded 'RS' original painting on the outside façade. (Only got Fiestas in there now, but I wonder if he's got an old cellar with forgotten ...........!)

Thanks m11rf!!! This is the first phase of panting ("1st hand" as we say in Greece). The finalisation of panting will take place after two phases and i think the colour ll be much more intense. :bom:

You are absolutely spot on mate!!! The mk2's in Greece generally are in lousy condition, the majority are 1.1 and 1.3L's fitted withSierra Pinto engines, treated badly and used only for drifting. Rarely you can find some mk2's owned by old peaple who maintain them in good condition and use them for a walk with their grand-children or to go to the sea during summer. Another category are some romantic mechanics who maintain and often race them. RS's and Mexico's which are my favourite are very very rare......I ve found in Athens till today only one original RS2000 and none Mexico.........Really rare and if someone has one, he ll never sell it or bring it on the surface, i think......
You say the blue one RS2000??? I also think that you mention Power Boost Service, these boys are very very close friends of mine and during the winter they ll help me with the preparation of my Escort.................................... I really don't know the Ford dealer, i ll search for sure!!! Are you often visiting Greece mate?

I don't get to Athens very often - maybe every couple of months. Then it's usually to do things like this: (in case you're wondering, the Colonel is quite small - but I'm quite big, too!)

I'm there on Friday, but staying a bit out of town at Vouliagmeni, just travelling into Katehaki for a few hours meeting and back out Friday afternoon. Towards the end of the year I'll probably be having a few longer stays at Megara. I've seen there are a few good looking wheel shops on Kifissias going out of town. Some nice Ferraris about, too. Wonder what wealth taxes those guys are paying!

Hi mate :)
Hello neighbor!!!!
Tomorrow i am leaving Athens for vacation, i ll be back at 29 Aug. so i won't post till then. When i am back i ll bring you photos of the Escys from the places i ll visit to give you a taste.
Yesterday i ve found near my house an abandoned 1.1L 4door in good codition, the owner told me that i can take only for 100 euros so i ll take it today before leaving for holidays. I ll use it as a donor car, it has some spare parts that i may need.
So, i wish you the best mates, see you very soon with my latest news! :flower:

I will be staying at the Divani Apollon when I've got business in Katehaki. I used to do the Divani Caravel but the congestion, noise and claustrophobia gets to you after a while. On the way in in the taxi from Vougliameni on Friday I saw a bright red Escort II in race trim parked on the street. I was too slow to take a snapshot and the taxi driver was about to go to warp speed.

Ah, you're obviously referring to one of these hugely successful sales campaigns!

FPMSL....nice to hear that Greek taxi drivers havn't changed over the years. I developed the theory years ago that Greek taxis are only equipped with two pedals...an accelerator...and a foot horn...

Yeah, they have a neat trick for traffic lights too - as they travel at speeds approaching light-speed, there is a significant "blue shift" in the colour spectrum of approaching objects. This means that red traffic lights tend to appear bluish-green which then means you can drive through them. They also play heavily on quantum theory and Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. This is apparent when you KNOW they must have just hit that other car but you didn't feel the impact. It is because their car atoms were only in that place with a certain probability and weren't actually definitely there at that time.
we still do the pt6's for hellenic, small world

Hello mates! Back to office unfortunately, back to Athens, holidays ended...... Dasa you re incredible mate....... Next time stop and ask for Cosmas(that's me) or Thanassis! It ll be our pleasure to meet you. We really have the best taxi drivers, they really "fly"! :cyclopsani:
These days i ll make my plans for the escort wintertime, i am thinking seriously about the engine rebuilt and the cage. SD cage is one-way solution mates?
I ll give you soon some photos of escys i ve discovered during holidays, take a first look.
