sorry to hijack the thread, any body able to help with bilstein question (see technical)
sorry to interrupt guys, could do with some help as i am mid way through stripping the struts......

I vaguely remember that there is a very fine thread on the top. Try turning the rings (although if memory serves, I thought the thread was on the INSIDE of the tube and the top had a collar with slots in for a small C-spanner.)

no sign of any rings or thread.
try and have a look at the pics in tech section that i have posted.
i have just removed the dust / sealing rings and found a Fibre washer below that, however nothing else, theory states that it should just pull out but im damned if it will

unless that is threaded, it looks like a tight push fit

ive just poured WD40 all around the insert in the hope that it is a tight fit and this would help release it - i will try again tomorrow,

Cant see insert being a "press fit" as the small bolt/nut at bottom of strut would not take a lot to snap !
Insert should have some sort of locking collar on top of strut tube !
