here we go again:eek:, i've decided to get the zetec engine i have been hoarding for the last three years fitted for this year, the engine bay is gonna get a little makeover too, hope to replicate some of the features from the original VLE Vatanen escort, i've got a BDA replica cam cover to fit onto the zetec so hopefully that will look good in there, she's gonna run on 45's, cheers frosty for those they turned up today, anyway here's some pic's to kick off the thread, this pinto has given the car great service but its time for a change, now you see it ....................now you don't:D

evening:), busy week removing more bits off the car getting ready for pent hopefully just after the weekend, got some new radiator mounting panels to go in which will accept the new ralloy big header rad and tidy up the front panel, a bit more preparation and some more repairs and she'll be ready for the gun, the steering column has been removed as the one on the car started life on a capri and was a little short, so the pedal box came out ready for a little makeover too, in the rear the boot refurb has taken another step forward with the alloy tank being installed, a bracket fabricated to accept the two fuel pumps and the filter king being mounted in place, lots of new bits delivered this week ready for the zetec install when the engine bay is ready, anyway here are some pics to show the progress, the Lakes Tour i believe is only 12 weeks away:eek:

How long have you had the Zetec stored for?
What sort of exhaust have you planned?
Looing forward to seeing this progress.

now the engine is out we can sort out the missing radiator brackets and cut out for the bottom of the rad to fit the front panel, found some grot at the ends of the chassis rails so that was sorted too, almost ready for the full prep for pent, at the rear the fuel lines are now plumbed and wired up also the rear loom and battery cables have been laid, number plate fitted along with the boot latch springs, inside the car the old alloy h/brake bracket has been changed for a gartrac item, coming on, some pics of the nice shiny stuff:D and some pics of the grot:eek:

I think this brill.
Some people have well know cars.
This is one of them.
But to put your own stamp on it, to say 'you know what, I want it this way'
I think it takes a lot of balls and the car looks better for it, and it now looks like Taff's car.
Nice one G.

a few more bits and bob's bolted in, got a works type key from a gay sorry i meant guy on here and some door seals, got a few extra fuses plumbed into the system in the passenger footwell, also got the exhaust bolted on after a little bit of cutting and shutting work to get it to fit, its an ashley system, could have gone for a stainless system but wanted to keep it mild steel as a stainless one would look too modern on the car, pedal box has come out well too after the overhall complete with new loud pedal, got a new heater matrix radiator in there to comlete the new waterworks, still lots to do though:eek:, the list seems endless.......................................

It's quite odd having seen the engine in the flesh & finished, before I read the internet version, but excellent job, it's all the more impressive seeing how quickly you've done it.

Which rolling road did you use? I'm looking to get mine on one in the next week or so and was planning to go to Tom Willfield's at Abercynon.

Nice to meet you pair at the weekend, I had lots of help from peeps on here with this build, as for the rolling road I used Neil slark in amesbury Wiltshire, recommended to me by brett sims Motorsport, no familiar worth the one in abercynon, maybe the local peeps can help with that one, hope to see you in snowdonia later this year;)
