Martyns belt was slipping off the pullies, when revving the motor, he threw the lot in the bin, but took them out again and I think he perservered and got it working eventually

The main problem i had was the belt moving around on the alternator pulley, and jumping badly when revved hard.

Dave , i was advised the same to space out the alternator but no matter how much i pi##ed about with it i just could not make it run properly, i eventually cam to the conclusion it was the rubber bushed alt bracket moving (slightly but enough!!) i changed to the solid bracket, bolted everything tight and hey presto!!!!!
the only other issue is the small alternator sprocket is machined @15mm and i could not find an alternator with this dimension ( all 16mm) so i had to get this machined as well.
Good Luck
Cheers

When I purchased kit I asked about different alternator spindle sizes

Their (obvious really) reply was "we make them all small hole and simply open up the hole to fit larger spindle alternators"

I see your point on the rubber bushed mounting - will look out for this when setting up
