This is my Mk2 RS2000 Broadstripe September 1976 model. I bought the car after it had been stored in a single council block garage for 18 years. The owner had the car repainted in 1992 and wasnt happy with the job and lost all interest in the project....so it remained in his garage untouched since 1992 till I opened up the door in 2010. It still had masking tape on it!
The car is original Signal green and according to the DVLA V888 enquiry it was supplied by Hendy Lennox Southampton to a man in Fareham. The car has remained in and aroung Portsmouth, Fareham and Eastleigh all its life.
It is now undergoing full restoration and is currently at a local bodyshop awaiting paint!

You need a different alternatot bracket. Early Broadstripes had the same set up as a MK1 RS2. I have new block brackets and tensioner arms. You will need a alloy bottom bracket as well;)

Fairly sure Ian used other ford paints from the period for the dabs and applied with a brush ,all a bit of guess work really.

the main colour i used, i believe had two names, dependent on year. One name was defo electric blue. This colour was used on strut top nuts, diff nuts and sump alan bolts. Also i used signal orange which was the original colour found on the floorpan. I remember Rob (Hoarder) gave me the colours for the spring poundage on the front. There were also three brushes of paint along the back edge of the leafsprings. Good luck. I think to be fair, whatever colours were freely available were probably used. I believe the paint marks on the floorpan were to tell others bolts had been tightened and checked etc etc.

It should have the external regulator, the main loom is no different for this as its a short bit of stand alone loom that links the alternator to the regulator box. The plug from the main loom fits as normal.

What a lovely looking job.....it's going to be a right little minter!

I've studied the paint dabs as I have put some on mine. It looks like there was no particular pattern of what colour was used, because they vary on some cars. I think as mentioned the dabs were to show that the bolts and nuts had been tightened and torqued up ok. I reckon it was also applied using the oldest and worn out brush that they could find in the factory and with hardly any paint on it (yes it's as bad as that to look right). It was probabaly too much trouble to put paint on it! lol. My diff casing also had a few interesting painted shapes and dabs on too.

Tim.
