has ne 1 seen colins new mk2 the red 1, he was runnin 0 car in ireland this weekend from wat ive read its not much mk2 think only the shells remains i know its got a padel shift gear box.
Yeh ive seen it and spent some time working on it at the weekend, as i built its engine. Colin loves the car and is to use it on more events soon.
can u give any info away about the car,
The car has a Millington diamond 2.5 ltr engine, a sequential 6 speed gearbox, proflex suspension, and is extremely light, but not much like a normal escort mk2 beneath the skin. There is a picture in this weeks motorsport news.
talkin 2 a guy at work 2day and he says its a escort wrc runnin gear n diff
diff is out of a cossie, and gearbox is one of ten specialy built. its not out of anything. its indipendant rear suspension, and front is totally new aswel using alloy front hubs which are camber adjustable.
i hear alister and robie head are also buildin mk2s

In Spring 2003 Colin visited Dave Plant of DJM Race Preparation based in Newark.
“My brief was to build a car which looked like a Mk2 Escort. The red shell has developed into a very interesting machine. Colin has spent at least 200hrs working with myself and my engineers in developing this car. It is front-mid engined with a 2.5 Millington engine producing 310 bhp. The rear of the car has independent suspension, a 6 speed sequential gearbox and Colin is currently trying a paddle shift system. To reduce the weight of the car we have made everything possible in carbon. The car’s weight is approximately 900kgs. Colin drove the car at the recent Press Day for the Scottish Rally Championship and was very pleased with the car’s performance,” said Dave Plant.
