I've had so many false starts with this car it's untrue. I'm not sure if you all frequent Turbosport but I've been toiling for the past few months knocking up a little garage at the back of our house to help me hopefully get the RS back on the road, the story is on TS. Anyway, after months and months of digging and building it was finally time to put the car in its new home. Hooraaah!!
I've owned this car since 1995 and it's been forgotten about since 2005, until today...

Dragged it across from the old garage across the road. Looking very sorry for itself...

Bit of water and a scrub, there's still some nice bits...

All tucked in...

Started stripping...

I work in an office so I have very little knowledge of what to do next. I've been stalking the project and resto section for months and it all seems straight forward in my head. Putting that into practice is another thing!
Bear with me, I think we're talking years rather than weeks or months with this one.
Cheers,
Carl

Thanks guys. I'm sure there will be many many questions to follow.

(can't believe I've been registered on here for 5 years and only posted 12 times, must be a record)

A bit more background for you...

My first car was a 1.1 pop with drums all round (BNA 807T), that was back in 1985 after I passed my test. After that I had various 1.3's and even a 1.6 ghia. Upgraded to a red 1600 Sport (YYW 973T) in about 1986. That was stolen while I was at evening class at college (I heard it wartle off up the road but couldn't leave the lesson). With the insurance cash I bought a white 1600 Sport with bright blue stripes (JEC 773T), absolutely loved that car! I think there's a white RS2 on here a couple of digits away?

Anyway, slummed it for a while after I sold that one as I became a full time student at university. Studies over and in a decent job I was then able to buy a yellow RS2000 (ERW 574T). My stag do (1995) was in fact a week in this car heading as far south as I could get with a couple of mates. We ended up hitting St. Tropez, Nice and Milan, car never missed a beat. Shortly after I was married and took 2 weeks off for the honeymoon, expecting to go for days out in the RS. A couple of days in pulled back the curtains to find no car outside, another one stolen! The joys of living in Manchester!!

Insurance money arrived a few months later and off we trotted to the lakes to buy my present RS (VLV 991V). This car was mint when I bought it. Cleaned and polished at regular intervals. Then in 1998 the little guy (Ewan) arrived and I didn't seem to have enough time to do the good father and the car polishing bit so one of them had to be neglected.

Things went downhill with the RS until my attempt at getting it MOT'd in 2005 resulted in the bloke at the garage telling me it was knackered and basically at the end of its days. It's been in my mother-in-laws garage ever since. Until today!!!! Woo-Hoo!!!!

I really must do a Ruddy style run down of my cars. I really enjoyed reading and looking at that.

a cut here and a weld there and it'll be good as new, nice reg too, i like that, i find listing the job's and ticking them off keeps the motivation up when it gets cold and wet in the winter, a little bit often is the way to go, don't try and do it all at once, good luck:wink:

vlv991v
14-08-2010, 23:06
Thanks Taffr. I know what you mean about the reg. Me and my mates always like to make up words or phrases based on the reg of our cars. My crappy Merc runaround has JSP and so Juicy Steak Pie was born. When my mate first saw my RS though, a millisecond after he saw it, he looked back at me in astonishment, and utter the word, Vulva!

Cheers guys. Had a few hours pottering about the front end today. I was defeated in the end trying to get the nosecone off. Those bleedin' studs and piddly nuts up at the inside top of the wing are a nightmare. I still have three of them refusing to budge. I can't get my angle grinder up there, I'm guessing I need something like a Dremmel to just cut the things out? I also have three that cease to exist, just disappeared in the pile of rust. The majority of the wing part that is different for the RS2 is pretty much gone on both sides, I think I'm going to have to get a couple of standard wings and modify them accordingly. Anyone done this before?

Defeated by the cone I just spent a couple of hours scraping underneath the front arches. I was fairly impressed with what I found. There was tons of what I can only describe as white rubbery bathroom sealant over all the joints, plus some yellow stuff about 1mm thick everywhere under another 1mm of black underseal.

I finished the day pleased that I found some solid steel under there!

15-08-2010, 23:17
my mate got wings from express, they look like standard 1`s that have been cut back and a rs section spot welded in.should`nt be hard to do if you can take sizes and templates from your old wings.

good luck with the project, keep the pics coming:D

RUDDY
16-08-2010, 07:33
If you are going to junk the wings anyway just cut most of it off so that you can get at the nosecone fixings, I speak from much experience.

Secondly if your budget allows go for genuine RS2 wings, they are still about, I used pattern RS's on one car and they were a nightmare, one was too long and one was too short, not worth saving the difference over genuine.

The sealer etc sounds like the genuine article so with luck it should be untouched underneath, always the best starting point for a resto.

All the best, Paul

good luck with the resto, as said earlier, do a little and often, keeps the motivation going, also plan well ahead for the bits you will need and buy as and when possible

Thanks guys. I'm a long way off buying new stuff just yet. I'm going to be taking the first few months simply taking bits off and scraping at the years of crud. But thanks for the advice - it will be remembered for later.

I have loads of access to the studs and nuts, it's just that they're rusted solid. Saying that, they're not nuts anymore, all the corners have been rounded off during my struggles. I'm going to borrow something a bit more delicate than an angle grinder, or maybe even chisel the things off.

I'll take a load of pictures when I get back in there this evening.

As promised, some pictures. Tell me to stop if it's all getting too boring :o.

Passenger side detail showing missing front of wing.
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm469/carlf18/RS2000%20Restoration/IMG_8612.jpg

And from the inside, I just managed to get the angle grinder in there but it was bouncing around and I bottled it. Doubt I'll get to the top stud.
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm469/carlf18/RS2000%20Restoration/IMG_8617.jpg

Drivers side is pretty much the same.
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm469/carlf18/RS2000%20Restoration/IMG_8613.jpg

I actually managed to get the two hardest to reach nuts off. Just the one in the middle that's not co-operating.
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm469/carlf18/RS2000%20Restoration/IMG_8628.jpg

So I moved on to scraping the passenger side inner wing. Good bits...
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm469/carlf18/RS2000%20Restoration/IMG_8614.jpg

And bad...
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm469/carlf18/RS2000%20Restoration/IMG_8618.jpg

And it looks like it's very much the same story on the drivers side. This shows the steel, painted black, the yellow layer??? and then the layer of underseal. Did its job here...
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm469/carlf18/RS2000%20Restoration/IMG_8623.jpg

But not here.
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm469/carlf18/RS2000%20Restoration/IMG_8629.jpg

Took the sound deadening off the bulkhead top, sure enough, big blob of something put in years ago to stop the water gathering:
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm469/carlf18/RS2000%20Restoration/IMG_8638.jpg

Pulled it out of the way to reveal this. Did Ford do this area like this on purpose so that the cars were destined to fall apart?
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm469/carlf18/RS2000%20Restoration/IMG_8639.jpg

Finally, had a scrape around the top of the inner wings. When I bought the car in 1995 I was impressed that the wing rails looked to have been done with a neat job, had a little nosey further to find that home made sheets had in fact been lap jointed on using stitch welds and not butt welds. Oh well!
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm469/carlf18/RS2000%20Restoration/IMG_8637.jpg

Plenty to do.

Thanks guys (and girl?). The encouragement is really helping in these very early stages where you find nothing but decay. Couple of hours in there tonight before it went dark (really must get my electrics sorted out!). Decided to stop mincing around and really attack the studs and nuts on the back of the cone. After completely destroying one of the nuts to the point where there was very little of it left, it still took mole grips and 10 minutes to finally prize it off. I nicknamed this one the "c-nut", or something along those lines.

Success!!

Hi Mate,

Just having a look through your thread, the part where you mentioned the heater bubble rotting. If you have a look at my thread (Basket case?) this might give you a few pointers.

And agree with others the more pics you put up the better to help future resto stars :D

Keep up the good work ;)

Thanks Daz, I'll have a look at that now and stick it in my favourites for when I'm up to putting it all back together. This forum needs a "thanks" button like on turbosport.

Cheers,

flat fronting carl isnt frowned upon here as at the end of the day its your car but personally why spoil it as its a really nice car and as for the rot it comes hand in hand with a ford plenty panels available to fix them as well good job it always looks worse at the beginning just look at some of the resto threads on here and the end results are good chinup ;)

Keep the good work going mate as it looks a nice car well worth doing right....and please keep the nose cone as you will be glad that you had. There is some excellent advice for you here so take it as you go along and you will get there ok.:)

If you have a problem with a nut again try centre popping and drilling it down one side of the nut parrallel to the hole/stud but carefully avoiding touching the stud or bolt. Firstly with a small drill and then you can open it out until the nut is weakened or you can jiggle something about in the hole to widen it a bit, then it should come off....I got some off my nose cone and bumper bracket like that.

All the best,

Tim.

vlv991v
19-08-2010, 21:23
I'll not flat-front it. Mentioned it to my wife and she said don't be daft, you can't lose that nosecone, it's her best feature, she can't lose her boobs! She sees strange things.

Cheers for the advice Tim, I'll definitely do that next time.

Shifty: I would never go chopping at any of the panels, delicate easing is the way forward. Incidently, has anybody taken detailed pictures of removing a front wing? I can't get my head around how you know where all the spot welds are on the rail. I can feel a couple of likely places but I really wouldn't know where to drill. Also, how do you seperate the lower front edge from the front panel (the bit that's usually hidden behind the nosecone)? They appear to be spot welded from inside the wheelarch and I can't see a way of accessing them with a drill. The only bit of wing removal I'm certain about is the three bolts securing them to the A pillar.

Thanks Ashley, I'm trying to, although some of the pictures I've taken just tend to confuse and scare me...
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm469/carlf18/RS2000%20Restoration/IMG_8657a.jpg

Another wee suggestion is to get some of those small zipper freezer bags and keep the nuts and bolts, screws etc in them and label what they are for . Again it will save with the headache:)
Keep up the good work though will be worth it in the end ;)

Cheers Fraser, I'm OK at the minute since I'm only taking stuff off and if it doesn't fit in the loft it stays in the garage. Must have a chat next time I'm up at Balmoral.

Another wee suggestion is to get some of those small zipper freezer bags and keep the nuts and bolts, screws etc in them and label what they are for . Again it will save with the headache:)

Thanks ddc, What I'm doing at the moment is putting everything back where it came from. At the moment all I have lying about is the nosecone fiddly stuff, and one bolt on the top of the inner wing which I haven't a clue where it came from! When I'm chopping and need to remove bolts I'll use bags as you suggest.

some great work there, love the shots with the parts laid out for inspection, when is the grinder coming out???

Need some lecky in there first taffr. My bro is on the case (he works for CEF) and that's the next priority. New consumer unit and SWA down the garden to the garage. There'll be sparks soon honest!

last time i saw that it was at a garage near me having radiator work look a nice car hope to see it again good luck with the rebuild

Up opposite Scott Road? I remember seeing a mk2 in there when I had my rad done. Or am I getting confuzzled?

coming on now doesnt look as if it needs much welding

Hmmmm! Watch this space.

looking well mate! :D

Cheers Shifty. I have something to aim for ^^^.

No update to post, all I've done in the last couple of days is take the servo and inlet manifold/carb off. I'll be back when there's something more interesting to post.

Bought another set of axle stands and a little trolley jack so that I could attack the back end. The end result was...

I've asked this over on Turbo Sports also, Will it be possible to drop the remaining "big" bits down as one chunk? Trolley jack under the engine and box, remove gearbox crossmember bolts, front anti-roll bar bolts, strut top bolts, engine cross member / chassis connection bolts. The whole lot could be lowered down and there would be little weight left in the shell, maybe lift the front end up and wheel out the engine and box. I may be talking tish though. Just trying to save on hiring an engine hoist.

You can lower it all in one ( done it many a time ! ) just remember you'll still need height clearance, handy to have a couple of mates around also !! Good luck.

Cheers Fat Cat. It's just me I'm afraid, don't have any mates, that's why I'm spending all my days in the garage. I'll work something out.

I'm leaving it as it is for the next 3 days, going out with the family before the little guy goes back to school next week.

Doing it all in one I find easier, as above just make sure you have the clearance to get it out, only thing really to watch is the steering coupling ;)

wouldnt have a go on my own though it's a big lump when it's waiving around on the jack !

Fabulous picture Glyn - I really like that! Would I gain anything by taking the head off or are the struts the problem. I'm not sure how much they would move around, I take it I won't be able to move these out to the side through the wheelarches, then pull the whole lot forward?

I've watched a Mk2mania vid of them putting a shell on a spit. One guy lifted the front end of the shell off the axle stands and placed it on the A frame. Once this egine / box lump is unbolted I'll basically have the bare shell. I should be able to lift the nose as high as is needed for a few seconds while the engine / box is dragged forward, shouldn't I? Or will the windows add a load of weight?

Spinach butties for my 12 year old and wife it is then for a week or so. Build them up so they can lend a hand.

That's very kind of you Jon, you're a star!

I'm just off to see my brother for some electrical stuff to enable me to get some lights and power in the garage. It won't be plumbed in for a week or two though. I have an extension lead and an inspection lamp though - woo-hoo!

I'll give all the bolts a good soaking with my trusty can of 3-in-1 spray oil today. I'm out this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon with my lad, (evenings available), all weekend available, then back to work on Monday. So then it's back to 6:30pm onwards.

Whenever you can pop over would be absolutely great, just drop me a quick message.

Time for an update I think...

I've been concentrating on cables and stuff for what seems like a life time, the RS has basically just been getting in the way! Anyway, on Tuesday my brother in law popped over and he brought his step son. I think the lad's 20ish. He was fascinated to see what I was doing and we chatted for half an hour or so. I mentioned that in the time we'd been chatting, the three of us could have whipped the engine and box out since it's only held in with four bolts. They did offer to go for it but I said I was only kidding. At this point should mention that the step son is in the fire brigade.

Anyway, 30 mins after they'd gone my wife fetches me a coffee. She mentions that the stepson is coming on Saturday to fit a couple of smoke alarms in the house. Then she casually adds that he'll be with the crew in the fire engine, and that they'll all help me to get the engine out.

So today was full of action, the guys were only in the garage for 10 mins, job done!!!

I must apologise at this point to Jon, I was plodding away trying to sort out the lighting situation but since these guys made a date without me knowing it kinda forced my hand. I was up at 9am this morning temporarily making the lights work. Thanks again for the offer bud, I'm sure we'll meet up at some point.

Nice to see you`ve made some good progress with it. Like the pic of her with the nose back on and sitting up high in the stands:).
good to see you have the engine and box out too. Coming along very nicely.
P.S As for the wing you asked about it was pretty much powder and the postage cost would`ve been more than it was worth. There is guy up my way that i let him have it so he can make a template and after that its going in the scrap bin. Sorry took so long to reply :o
Good luck at nat day in finding some goodies . I will be doing the same !!:D

Keep up the good work and the pics coming;)

Thanks very much Dave. Encouragement is really needed at this stage. No worries about the wing - it's good that somebody is making a template though. Will your guy be able to get details of the cutout dimensions and the plate sizes of the part that is perculiar to the RS wing? Stuff like that would be great to allow others to knock up replacements from standard wings.

Good luck in your hunt for goodies at NT, if you see a passenger side A post keep walking and leave it for me please! :)

I doubt there will be much progress now for many, many months. I've started scraping all the underseal / protection to see what metal I have to work with. Started with the passenger side bulkhead / underwing area. I'm making very, very slow progress as I'm trying to take off the dirt, the black tar underseal, then the yellow protective layer (Ziebart??) but leave behind as much of the original black Ford paint as I possibly can. I've scraped a bit too hard on occasion as you can see...

Nice to see it stripped and on the spit in a relatively short time. The best thing to do with the scraping stage is to just get your head down and get on with it and don`t stand back and think about it. Just keep convincing yourself of what it will be at the end ;)
What i used on a previous shell was a 4" grinder and a knotted wire brush but that takes it back to bare metal but saves a hell of a time carl.

Not much of an update here really. I'm still scraping old underseal off to see if I find any suprises. The first picture is from before I started scraping:

Since I have no money for a welder just yet I'm taking my time gently removing all the coatings. I realise it would be much quicker with a twisted brush but hey, I've got months to kill until I have welder money.
As you can see, flat surfaces are suited to my screwdriver approach, curved surfaces however are a nightmare:

Rear, underseat floor is going to need a plate or two, and the wheel-tub lip has had a bash at some point in the past:

My favourite joint on the car so far, bulkhead/chassis/inner wing:

IMG_9034 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlf18/5082353038/) by carlf18 (http://www.flickr.com/people/carlf18/), on Flickr
My random approach, when I get bored I change location:
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4047/5081758699_113b0d7fb9_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlf18/5081758699/)

Hey Mark, nice of you to ask. Not "real" progress, just more scraping. More or less completed the bottom and outer surfaces of the passenger chassis. Also attacking the final, hard to reach bits of the inner wing, 85% exposed now I'd say. (just the inner wing, not the whole underside)
I sold my EOS 40D at the weekend on Fleabay so I'm only left with my old 10D. I'll dig it out and take some snaps tomorrow evening. No welding or cutting or anything interesting really, just more black paint visible rather than underseal (full of scratches through to the metal:banghead: )

Hi Carl, i did the same job on the wifes rs2000 a few years ago, i used a screwdriver too, after i got all i could off with the screwdriver i used GUNK you can get it from halfords in a tin, painted it on with a brush and then you can just wipe the panel clean, job done, no harsh fumes or chemicals to dela with and took the underseal right off, the stuff outside the chassis rails, that springy white shite that just moves around i got off with paint stripper, that was the worst part of the floor on that car too, your floor looks in good nick, just the usual metal sections to sort out but nothing too bad

Hey guys, I've not updated my scraping progress for a while. I've been concentrating on the passenger side floor, tunnel and rear wheel tub. I think I'm well over half way now which is nice, I can't believe I've been at this for two months now!!
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5045/5228973784_2a5d6d3b9c_o.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlf18/5228973784/)

I've finally ditched the idea of using a steel screwdriver for the scraping, I wasn't happy with all the scratches from pressing on too hard. I've discovered that using a 39p Wilkinsons wooden spatula is much easier on the car. (I've been through 5 of them so far!). Results are far more pleasing...

The rear wheel tub was a nightmare, the stoneguard/underseal was really thick, had to work in 100mm x 50mm sections, applying heat for a minute or so then giving it a good push with the spatula, after a matter of seconds the stuff would go hard again and require more heat. The smoke wasn't very nice either.

Thanks for the encouragement guys - it really does help a great deal, especially with this part of the tidy up. I've not even looked at the car for a couple of days as I've been on a course in that there Scotland. Spoke briefly with Fraz (DDA) who took great pleasure in pointing out that his is almost on the road (after a bit of imminent re-touching). Swine, I'm years away from that!!

I'll keep the pics coming if that bloke in the red outfit brings me a new camera.

Dobbo, I hear what you're saying about the overspray thingy - I'm not too sure how it was originally or if that is the original paint. All that is underneath it though is bright metal, I can't imagine any previous resto (pre 1995 when I bought it) would have bare metalled the underside sprayed it gloss black only to cover it all again with stone-chip and underseal. I could be talking nonsense, but weren't black cars special order? And as such would have needed special treatment? I've not found any overspray anywhere, just all gloss. The photos don't really capture the paint quality, it's a very difficult colour to capture in a good light. It looks much better in the flesh.

Hey Mark, it's really nice of you to ask. I've not posted anything recently since....well....there's not really any progress. I didn't really want to bore you all with exploits of my scraping marathon. I've been down the garage every night, freezing my nads off, persuading bits of stubborn tar and stonechip to give up the fight. The point I'm at now is that the underside is probably 98% done, and I've recently been scraping the bits of glue from inside the car, mainly where the sound deadening was under the rear seat and on the roof.

Here's three pics anyway just to show that I am still doing something...

Underside done (ish)

IMG_8577a (http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlf18/5405598921/) by carlf18 (http://www.flickr.com/people/carlf18/), on Flickr

On the bright side, I've revealed a fairly nice, original sill on the drivers side, much nicer than the multiple sills on the passenger side...
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5018/5406204034_8aa3cb9ccb_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlf18/5406204034/)

Thanks lads.

Since nobody has told me to stop posting because they're completely bored of this.....

What a bee-atch of a job removing all of the gunge from under the rear seat. From this:

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5138/5436920159_1b57f8a334_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlf18/5436920159/)
IMG_8676 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlf18/5436920159/) by carlf18 (http://www.flickr.com/people/carlf18/), on Flickr

To this...

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4073/5436920645_8b615a873b_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlf18/5436920645/)
IMG_8627 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlf18/5436920645/) by carlf18 (http://www.flickr.com/people/carlf18/), on Flickr

Just a layer of thick paint and primer to remove to reveal the gloss black below.

Then there's the front floor pans. After I stripped the car I more or less poured rust convertor in there to hide the orange coloured floor:

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4074/5437529072_b7d3e5475e_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlf18/5437529072/)
IMG_8612 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlf18/5437529072/) by carlf18 (http://www.flickr.com/people/carlf18/), on Flickr

Fearing the worst I began a little exploratory scraping tonight and was relieved to reveal at least 50% solid metal. Hopefully I won't have to replace the whole front floor, might get away with the odd patch here and there...

Well done for sticking wih the scraping! First time Ive posted in ages just read through from p1. Definately a great car in the making! A word on your wings, if you can save them, save them the pattern rs ones just aren't worth the trouble. When I did mine i skipped a pair (!) because just the rails were a bit tatty and bought the express pattern ones. When I came to fit them they were awful, one longer than the other and the swage line was nowhere near matching on the cone! Ended up getting another set of s/h ones off RACE and rebuilt therails and fitted them, It now lines up a treat, but what an ordeal!!

For what its worth when you eventually start cutting, concentrate on one area at a time and weld up and dress fully before moving on to the next. Good Luck!! :)

Thanks guys.

Thanks for the info grs. I still have my wings but they are in a terrible state. Both of the rails are butchered and bent from getting them off, it had been repaired in the past so the simple spot welds had been replaced by hefty plug welds. I was wondering if it would be better to buy a set of repro wings and slice off the rails and cone cut-backs and transplant them across. I'd also need to swap the pillar joint piece. One of the wings needs a fair chunk of the arch fixing too. Oh well, I don't need to worry about these things yet, I'm probably 2 or 3 years off putting wings back on.

Keep an eye on my Resto of the front end on SAG
One of my wings the NS is thought to be a genuine Ford pannel all be it secondhand ,the OS is a Pattern one I bought off a chap in Barry South Wales and looked very good ( we shall see this week how it fits up .
The chap doing the work for me is also fitting new wing rails which might help with the line up of the seams ,I will let you know what issues he has with what pannels .

I'll take a load of pictures when I get back in there this evening.

hi mate good luck with the project.
On the subject of rusted nuts or bolts really the only thing you need is heat. last month i had a similar issue and after trying everything at my disposal a friend had a very small oxycetaline kit - i must get one of those!!
If that is not a possibility for you then try the dremmel and cut through 2 sides of the nut.

hope that helps. ian

Thanks Mark, Ian and Shifty,

Been busy easing off all the sound deadening panels and the seam sealer from the joints. Then rubbing back with T-Cut to reveal the original paint, so much so that my fingers are in pain! Decided to have a change of scenery and changed the 16A plug for a 13A plug on my MIG and fire it up for the first time (to make sure it actually works!). Still not welded with it but at least I know it fires up. Anyway, latest pic of the car in its present state...

A lot to be said for chemical cleaning :)

With mine I gotta go assed about face, weld it to make it strong enough to dip, weld again, go back for my free dip, and then decide if i want it dipped in primer.

I commend you and your spatula skills :)

are you going to be buying panels or patching?

No probs Mike and thank you Shifty.

Hey Beelz, you made me chuckle when you said there's about a weeks worth of welding. I've thought about it many times....I could just get somebody in and it'll be back on the road in no time....but I simply can't afford bodyshop rates.

I have most of the panels for the passenger side; wing rail, inner sill, outer sill, a-post and bulkhead side. I'm probably going to be cutting these up and using just the bits that I need, I'm not going to chop out a whole section if just a bit of it has gone. Not welded in 25 years though, should make it interesting!

LOL, thanks Mark. Still scraping and Tcutting back the layers so didn't want to bore people. But since you asked, getting bored of the inside so made a start on the engine bay.

Thanks again Mark. Not quite lost the will to live just yet, but we're getting close! No actual restoration pics just yet, still dragging off the surface crap. I expect to be finished in about a month which, coincidentally, is when some of my finances are freed up. Might be able to buy some gas, a mask, some wire and then finally do something interesting!!! Anyway, some more up to date pics since you asked:
